Well concensus? any good, first thoughts seems to be smear in the action shots, not overly sharp, but maybe they are part of a burst which may explain it. The still life/girls are sharp/detailed but small files, but you could improve with raw. A raw sample would be nice and a couple of high iso's but they'll come. Expect a japanes reviewer to have one imo.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Those samples look really rushed.

The shot of the model's face, most of the focus is on her nose. But Im happy with the hair detail, and the colour.

And in the action shots they could of atleast explored the faster shutter speeds, both are at 1/500...

Also the images seem to have been taken at the 'Normal' quality settings going by their file sizes...

Basically as far as 6MP images go, theyre pretty damn good. I'd like to see them taken again in RAW with faster shutter speeds
, and tweaked slightly in Photoshop.

actualy there were working on an image gallery with sample vids.

My feeling is it's better than a canon s3/s5, but that's only £250 to buy, add in the hd camcorder, very capable spec on paper, £500 for anything approaching that.

Add in the burst shooting and the slow-mo, what price do you put on that, it's unique and really for £250 more(I'm assuming uk/ebay price will hit £500 or less quickly) then it's a heck of a camera, nothing to touch it from a digicam perspective.

The stills look noise free!

Thanks for the link.

I hadn't clocked before that the format of the sensor is 4:3, like a TV, and not 3:2 like 135 film and most digital cameras. Perhaps this shows its heritage.

Well concensus?
Very few pictures to look at so far. I did some pixel peeping, which I try to avoid in general and I've reached a couple of tentative conclusions.

I don't care about the movie stuff, but I am interested in a modern CMOS 6MP sensor for high-quality images.

I like the way detail appears -- what I'd call very good acuity. Better than a couple of 5MP bridge cameras I have and on a par with my 6MP dSLR. I can see some noise-reduction artifacts (some clumping of very fine details), but I think Casio has reached a good compromise between detail and noise-reduction.

Color quality seems a bit blah. I worked with white-point adjustment and saturation, and small adjustments make a big difference -- the colors become very true. Not a problem since I do post on all images anyway. The pictures also hold up well to a slight amount of sharpening, though they don't need much at all.

My 2 cents. Anxious to see more samples.

I am not sure what to think.....I do not agree with the statement lots of hair detail.......and either those girls have an excellent complextion or there is not much skin detail either.

But it does seem at least as good as I expected, but perhaps short of what I hoped for.

D50 ....D80 - 18 to 200VR- 50mm 1.8 - 80 to 400 OS

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!

The action shots were taken on a very overcast day, look at the shadows they are hard to find.
Must have had a very tight schedule to get the shots.

I think that may have to do with the shallow depth of field in those shots. Like I said the nose on one of the girls seems really well in focus, while the rest looks a LITTLE softer.

The results look similar to my FZ5 on a very good day. Although I like Casio's colours better.

I am still unsure why they chose such a low shutter speed for the action shots though...

I must say I quiet like these photos, although I would like to see a few more in stronger lighting conditions and higher ISO shots but so far not too bad at all..

I saw a documentary last night on the Volvo Factory and their high speed shots of crash testing. Their cameras shoot their high speed at 1,000/sec, slow pokes compared to Casio's 1,200/sec. :-)

Switching from 30 to 300 fps in the second sample is pretty cool, compression artifacts visible though. I wonder how compression is on full HD videos.

With the second video on the website it is stated as being 15 meg in
size but downloads as a 2.5meg file. I would say someone has uploaded
a compressed version of the file instead of the original.

I am downloading the first video of 19 meg now to compare the quality.
Me too, the second video is only 2,5 Mb, but switching from 30 to 300 fps is :O

if some one of you can give me some space to share i also can uplod an vid where switch from 30 to 300 fps. i took it at that day where i tested the f1 with my dogs playing around. filesize is about 11,7MB.

tryed to upload it but that was happening:
The following files were not uploaded because of the indicated errors:

The uploaded file CIMG8952.MOV is not in the allowed extension list.
so i think i have to convert it first. hmm
