Teddy, you're right, no explanation needed for this 'golden' sunset.

Great shot, especially for a first entry..

Thanks for submitting.

Cheers,
Jerry

...for sending in this lovely shot.

I'm sure Mike would appreciate it. I know I do. It says Spring on my calendar, but with so much snow still on the ground here it seems like years away.

A very fitting sentiment for Mike.

Cheers,
Jerry

Thanks jp for sending this one in.

I must admit, I spent quite some time studying it. Even though I have no formal 'art' education, I was still captivated with this shot. Very stoic, simple (in a non pejorative sense) and quiet. Are those wings (of an angel)?

Definitely fits the 'golden' theme.

Cheers,
Jerry

This was in a window downtown where I live, a sculpture or a prop I guess. I remembered an old movie title: Shopworn Angel. Fiddled with it in Photoshop & stuck it in a challenge. Reminded me of a painter called Modigliani.

Hi Jerry. What a great challenge. I keep kicking myself for posting my gold pouring pics, LOL. Still we are forced to be creative, one of the main purposes of a challenge IMO.

I also dedicate these pics to Mike, Someone who always had a kind constructive word for my posts. This little cyber world we populate has been good to all of us, meeting people from the global village, feeling like we personally know those we interact with. Let is continue.

I include 3 pics that are “Gold” to me.

The first is a composition of two pics. Both are subjects I enjoy shooting. A Vintage Fire Truck shot at our local transport museum. She was in perfect nick (condition), her golden radiator cover well polished. The second pic in the composition was a brush fire I shot one evening on a hill close to my home, the two just live together

Fire Truck

Down the road from me is a pedestrian bridge spanning the freeway, not the best place to be at night with a camera. The smell of human by products (what the bridge seems to be used for) & a fear for who could be lurking in the dark was worth the grab.

Golden Lights.

My fascination of fire always has me scrambling for my camera when I see a glow at night. I liked this pano of a Veld (bush) fire.

Hi Jerry,

Firstly to Mike’s family , I feel as though I am the poorer for never having known him. My thoughts and wishes are with you all at this very sad time.

Then Jerry , well done on a superb choice of topic , and you certainly are getting a fantastic response with wonderful shots.

My three are as follows all taken in my garden.

Lady Bug with a Golden Face.

Golden Dahlia.

Daisy with a Bee-Fly.

This little creature resembles a bee , but is a fly. This is apparent when you notice the legs and head are that of a fly. There are numerous species of this kind.

Cheers,
Jill

Hi Ernest,

Thank you for sending in these very interesting submissions.

Because of the proximity to the Great Lakes and the standard weather patterns where a lot of the moisture coming up from the Gulf of Mexico dumps a fair bit of moisture (rain in the summer and snow in the winter) on us, fires are very rare here. Further north, where it's mostly forests, now that's another story...very dry summers can spark forest fires either caused by humans or from lightening strikes. I've only seen an advancing line of fire on the nightly TV news. So it was both interesting and frightening, seeing your 'Golden Line of Fire'.

I liked your vintage fire truck. We may even have had those here at one time, but salt used for melting road snow and ice rusts those untreated steel panels pretty quickly. The oldest ones we normally see here tend to be a little newer. I also like how you combined the two shots for the final effect.

Had to laugh when I read your write-up about the time exposure from the highway overpass and that the smell of human by products was your main objection. We have pedestrian overpasses and inconsiderate people here also. The biggest deterrent here though to that kind of activity is when the wind howls and the temperature is 40 degrees below zero, you don't ever want to expose anything that produces human by products, not if you ever want to (successfully) use it again.

Thanks again, Ernest, for participating in the min-challenge.

Cheers,
Jerry

Hi Jill,

Interesting photos and great captures. We have flies and ladybugs too, but I've never seen any like the ones you are showing. The ladybugs here are generally all orange with black dots. Yours looks reversed. Also I've never seen a golden fly with such striped 'eyes' like the one in you last shot.

Very nicely done. I like them.

Thanks for participating in the mini-challenge.

Cheers,
Jerry

Jo,

Your flower and oak leaves are very nice, but your 'Ice reflection' is something else...now THAT one is 'golden'. Great shot.

Thanks for participating in the mini-challenge.

Cheers,
Jerry

Hi Jerry. Thanks for the comments & Chuckle. I now know where the expression Freezing you A$# Off comes, your area LOL.

Cheers.

...got home from work late Saturday night and already felt like I was coming down with a bug (don't think it was a gold bug though :). Spent most of Sunday in bed, moaning. After some chicken soup, strawberry cheesecake and strong coffee this evening, I'm starting to feel almost human again.

Sky, I hope you and everybody at STF had a Happy Easter.

Cheers,
Jerry
