Set the aperture to as small as possible (that is, as big a number as possible).

IOW: (1) Set the camera to Av (aperture priority) mode, (2) set the aperture number to as big as it goes (on my S40 that's 8). Then set to macro and shoot.

If your camera doesn't have an aperture priority mode, or if your depth of field still isn't big enough,
you're out of luck: your only solution is to get another camera.

Unless... you're shooting for the web or intend to make very small prints: in that case, step back a bit so the subject is smaller and the depth of field is bigger, take the picture, and crop it in a photo editing program so that only the area you need remains.

Good luck, and I hope this helped,
