The teacher...

She or he? seems more "French teacher fashioned" (by the beret :)))
Also it's a nice shot and a rare bird, and the colours are very
nice. Wonderfull.
You have a great eye and a great light to work (ask to Vermeer
-Delft- about it)

With respects

Hi Martin,

A she! Yes she seems french fashioned with her beret and that was because she was influenced by her husband (a Frenchman) and that day as she couldn't find her umbrella she take the beret from her husband to keep out of the rain. I can't remember that day like it was yesterday, everybody was laughing with her but she had a good sense for humor and didn't feel agressed.

About the light Martin, it was bad. It was flat light in the shadow and the bird was in a cage and a metal piece was in my way (you can still see some darker part from it in the feathers) but I'm working hard in Photoshop on my light enhancing techniques to make good pictures out of bad ones and I think that I'm on a good way.

Hi Dirk,

Such a scholarly look. You certainly could give lessons yourself on photography considering the ability you have shown in taking and sharing some wonderful photographs. Based on your comment to Barbara I assume that a lot of work went into creating this image from a not too useable base. The result is marvelous and I must admit that I have become a fan of your work, always eagerly looking forward to your next creation. If ever you do decide to give some lessons in photography, sign me up right away.

Hi Stan,

Thanks so much for your very kind comment, you give me a blush. They already asked me a few times to give lessons in graphic design and now this. Funny is that I learned everything myself but I must say that I keep my eyes wide open and read a lot about many items. And for the moment I'm hard working in making a studio out of Photoshop as I found out that I can enhance the light there very much and even make uninteresting pictures as there was very nice light outside. That's something that I will explore more in depht in the coming weeks as it really is fantastic to make this working. I always loved light and searched after nice light, even to look at it without taking pictures for a long time, it can be so enjoyable and beautifull and making my own light now in photoshop is a super joy. What an incredible program that is. I must say that I know Photoshop quite well as I'm working every day with it and receive regularly such lousy pictures from my clients who wants me to turn them in good ones and this give me a lot of experience that I now can use for my own pictures. I don't think that I ever would find time to give lessons as I have so many projects in my head that I need several more lifes to finish them all. But maybe one day I will post a sample from a picture from which I start en the newer version and try to explain how I did it. It's impossible to make an action from that as it needs personal appreciation in what we want in the picture and it's a bit painting with light that I'm doing.

With very kind regards,

Dirk Vermeirre

This is a portrait of my English teacher...

Hi Dirk,

Well it's a fine and superbe photograph in a technical sense.

But a Teacher ? Well I don't see a teacher, I see 'astablishment' I see a regent, not one who realy knows the answers, but one just pretending,

jacques.

Have been a teacher for 13 years and I do sincerely hope / wish I never ever have been looking like this. ;-).

Hi Jacques,

Thanks for your kind words. First I want to say that I don't find this an ugly bird and also that he had a kind of cute look for me. And as I make regularly associations between people and animals or animals and people (in fact we are all animals) I could see immediately a teachter in this dignified bird. You know Jacques I have been fighting all my life against influences, I don't want to be influenced by the way that people regularly say, you must accept that, it was always accepted that way or that's really ugly. I try to be as objective as possible when I look around and since I'm doing that I can't even find a spider or some other animals that most people find very ugly (they parents started with that when the were very young and there parents did the same), ugly. Regularly I find beauty in them as I'm looking very neutral to them. And it's funny to hear what you see in this bird and I like what you write about him. One pretending to know the answers but not really knowing them (fantastic Jaques), I really like how our imagination can invent such feelings that couldn't be there in reality. Lovely and amusing.

I think that you associate it with some bad things Jacques and you could not been looking like this teacher as she was a woman! And Jacques I would not mean something bad with that and to reassure you I can tell you that my dearest father was a teacher to all his life.

With very kind regards,
Dirk Vermeirre

Hi Dirk,

Be asure of the fact I have been a very demanding teacher, but also a teacher with an open mind, a teacher with feeling, not one who bought everything, but one with an open mind. Just asked what the pupils could, maybe slightly over the edge, as they had to devellop.

This bird is beatyfull, but will be a totaly NONE teacher in real life.

We should have a Palm or a cup of tea, what ever you like and it would be fine just to meet some other people of the low lands too.

And be sure I know I'm just the uglly duck, I just don't have a finger behind what should be in a 2D frame, still looking forward to a total black frame,

jacques.

Hi Jacques,

I never expected something else from you as teaching whith an open mind. But are you really shure about this bird being a totaly NONE teacher ? Can we be sure simply by looking at people what their capacities are ? What do you think about that. I always thougt hat I could detect that in looking at people and the way there are looking with their eyes, but I'm not so sure anymore, maybe it's wishfull thinking. And yes we must arrange that one day with a few lowland people to come toghether one day or another.

Hi Dirk

That's funny he looks exact like mine to, only better :)

Ruud
Hi Ruud,

Tiens, tiens, it was a she and you are talking about a he, didn't you never notice that your teacher was a she ?

With kind regards,

Dirk Vermeirre

Is that bird wearing a toupe? (not sure how you spell it (Hair
Piece) LOL
Hi Terry,

No no not a toupet (I don't know how to spell that to in English but it's a French word so I now were you are talking about), but a beret (don't know if that exist in the English language, but it's a thing that many Frenchmen put on their head and that looks like what the bird has on his head), but I must say that it looks very much like a toupet to.

With kind regards,

Dirk Vermeirre

hey DV great shot as usual.. here an apple for your teacher!

Hi Ulol,

That's gonna be a great desillusion for her. I think that she would be much happier with an Apple Macintosh, they also have a nicer look. But thanks very much for this a bit damaged apple, I think she will eat it, I will bring it to her next week.

With very kind regards,
