EX-F1 Release March 28 - Japan

Was have the 6Mpixel to do with the price?

More Mpixel does not mean better.

There are other things that are counting!

And I think 1.000$ MSRP is ok for a full HD-Camcorder plus 6Mpix Digital Camera plus High-Speed-Camera plus UltraZoom.

For me IQ and High ISO performance is much more important than MPix. I have prints here at home from a 5Mpix-camera that are 45cm * 60cm, and there you could see every hair an the skin. They are noise-free and so no watercolour-effect/loss of detailso (loss of Mpix) through noise-reduction! So I don't need more Mpix!!!

Take a look: http://6mpixel.org/en/

Well Im sure itd cost a hell of a lot more if it did 60fps and was a full-frame 21MP sensor....

Heading out for band photography and capturing everything in-between.

Ok,

There is something in that, possibly, the size of the pixel is probably more important, I note 3micro(or whatever)m are the optimum and from memory this sensors are 2.5,(3 rounded up!!) So maybe we are in for a treat.

Still, with only 10 days to go from Monday to release, think Casio could be now now tempting us with a few samples, or maybe they'll show up next week. This release has been very calculated imo for maximum impact.

for sure it wont be availible before 28th of march ;)

There is one shop who claims it can be delivered on teh 21st, and another shop claims it can be delivered between 5 to 10 days.

The shop who deliveres on the 21st says that they have the world "primeur" (how do you spell that word in english). But anyhow they claim that they will be the first shop where its is available around the world..... so will just have to find out I guess!

English uses the French word: premiere.

I was at Akihabara Electronic City last Friday and they said that's the release date.

Happy expectation and waiting!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

A lens that only goes to 36mm at the wide end. In this day of uses, that is clearly a deal breaker for some. I really want to play around with the 60fps (don't really need it), but at 36mm I will be backing up a lot, and indoor shots may suffer as well.

My main reason for getting it would be to have a solid state camcorder (no dvd, no hard drive, no DV tape) that shoots fun high fps and decent high rez photos (albeit 6 Mpix). And I can take it anywhere that camcorders are not allowed, like sporting events :)

Simple -- get a high-quality wide angle converter. They work well, they're easier to attach than changing lenses with a dSLR, and you don't need to back into any walls.

Sample with a camera with a 38mm lens at the wide end -- 28mm effective.

Ah YES .... BUT .... I and put a converter on a 28mm and get effective 24mm or wider (maybe even 17mm).

I really want WIDER than 28mm.

I can appreciate that it's an extra-cost option for most people.

I already have good .75X and .7X wide angle converters that I use frequently so, for me, it's a simple and cost-effective solution. The .7X with the Casio would produce 25mm which is not bad. In any case, it's a lot cheaper than the wide-angle lens I recently bought for my dSLR.

.. and I want no distortion at 14mm just like the $2,000 Canon lens on my dslr. It has to be f2.8 across the range to full zoom ... I guess I could be happy at that.

Seriously there are quite a few wider angle lenses out there but the poor manufacturers have to compromise between wide angle, zoom capability and f-stop speed. Someone has to make a commercial decision. For myself I would prefer a faster lens lens at full zoom than a wider lens of more limited speed at full zoom. Slow speed telephoto has its own problems in usability.

Not that you can't have it all at the expense of ever increasing tubs of money, bulk and weight. There already are complaints about cost - further refinement would no doubt increase the entry price even more.

Looking forward to comparing notes - I will be using a microscope to compare the movement of leaves in the wind in my landscape shots (smile).
