Can you recommend online store for cameras in Canada?

Don't forget Henry's.

The Camera Store is in Alberta, so no PST, so that should help with the price. Also check out photoprice.ca which compares several Canadian and US internet retailer prices.

I shop here often. Stellar customer service. Jim, Nathan, Chris... knowledgeable, happy to take the time to answer your questions and if they don't know the answer, they open a box pull out the item, and figure out the answer.
I've shopped at Vistek 3 times. The last time I was there was exactly that... the last time. They suck. EOM.

thanks
  • Ontario: Vistek (Toronto), Henry's (Toronto), CameraCanada (London)
  • Quebec: Simon's (Montreal)
  • Alberta: TheCameraStore (Calgary)
As others have mentioned, you may be able to save on PST -- depending on which province you live in (and whether the store is in the same province as you).

However, I must confess I buy most of my Canon stuff from B&H and Adorama:
1. Their prices (esp for things like lenses) are MUCH cheaper than the best you
can find in Canada.
2. Canon USA and Canon Canada share the same warranty.
3. There is no duty on photographic equipment, but you do have to pay Canadian
taxes (e.g. GST & PST) which the shipping service (FedEx/UPS/CanadaPost) will
collect.

4. With the loonie now at parity, buying from the US will save you 20-40%, even after you pay shipping and taxes. And since you pay all the necessary taxes, it's perfectly legit when you travel in the future.

Let's all ask ourselves every now and then: Have I taken
more photos than posted messages on DPR this week?
