paul - thanks for the OP re the Nokton 58.
two questions if you don't mind:
1. is it worthwhile to have both nokton 58 and zeiss zf 50 1.4? i
have latter and am definitely interested in former but would value
your opinion.
Well i havent had enough time with both to form a strong opinion regarding the diffrences.
But my initial impression is that wide open up close the 58/1,4 performs very well, and the somewhat "nervous" bokeh" is generally not a problem. At a distance it dosent perform aswell, and depending on the bg the bokeh can be a bit distracting wide open.
The ZF 50/1,4 seems to be equal sharp wide open (up close) but seems to perform a little better at a distance. The bokeh isnt as "nervous" but its not the best iv seen either (wide open, gets better stopped down)
What i think it will comes down to, its the style.
Ill have a more detailed impression on my "new" (not online yet) website.
2. re zeiss zf 28 vs. zeiss zf 25 - which to get first? which more
useful. fyi i have the zeiss 35/2 and 50/1.4 and the 50/2 makro, and
a 12-24 nikkor dx. i am torn between the 28 IQ vs. the 25, but the
25 close focusing and slightly wider angle is attractive too.
mostly landscape, some city, some flowers (i also have the 105 VR for
that and when i grow up hope to have $ for the zeiss 100/2 makro).
Well the 28/2 is very similar to the 35/2, i would probebly opt for the 25/2,8 to begin with since you have the 35/2.
With that said, the 28/2 seems to be a excellent performer, and im really looking forward getting some more time using it under the coming weeks.
I dont have much samples nor experience with the "typical" application for the wide ZF lenses, my usage is somewhat "odd" for these focal lenghts
