i'm about to purchase a f707 but still worried about the dls problem.

i heard the ones manufactured after april are dls-fixed but some say they have the same problem with their f707 that are manufactured in april.
can someone explain please?
i really want this camera but i need to make sure of this first.
thanks.

After giving up waiting for something better to come down the pipeline, I bought my second f707 (the 1st went back for DLSS in Feb). It arrived yesterday. Serial number 1407xxx, Goodguys.com. Manuf'd: March 2002. Western USA. It has a black square with 'U2' on the UPC code.

It HAS DLSS and is going to have to be returned. Can't help you on those manf. April or after. I'll just keep returning them I guess untill I get a good one or just give up.

I'd look for one WITH DLS, then send to Sony' repair shop in MA, to have it aligned.

It will be better aligned than the production run, since a technician will go over and over it till it's perfect. They won't and probably cannot afford to line them up this well on the assembly line. It's like getting a precision model for the same price as the production model.

I'm paying 151 bucks to have this done for mine, since it is out of warranty for labor.

There are many with and many without DLS. Only the ones WITH DLS can be sent for perfect alignment. The alignment process is no doubt very costly in labor to get it just right....they don't do it on the assembly line, probably for that reason, just figure it will be "acceptable" by most.

It's also a gamble because some technicians have been leaving dust and finger prints inside....giving you more head aches. The technician's shop is not air filtered. I have been there.
