Please show me the flag of your country.

It's only called a Union Jack whilst flown from a 'jackstaff' at sea! Most people (including us in the UK) call it a Union Jack, but it's technically incorrect.

You learn something every day :-)

more from all over the world and hey, duplicate posts of any country flag are just fine, it's the photographic efforts that are important.

BTW, a Nikon shooter (I guess preferred not to post in the Canon forum) sent an e-mail to me last night with a very beautiful flag picture. IMO all cameras are welcome to participate!

Here is the flag of Malta (sorry, we were on a walking tour and I couldn't get close enough to do it justice). Hopefully a photographer from Malta (or anywhere for that matter) will submit a much better one.

Thanks for the education and yes, I just learned something. BTW, after reading your reply I passed along your "words of wisdom" to my wife and sister-in-law; like myself they were surprised and told me to tell you "thanks" for sharing the knowledge.

Could find a decent pic (next time in my country I do some flag shots)

I think I may be the only one here.

This has nothing to do with politics.

If you go to any school in the world you will find out that most people learn other countries flags. Will you tell the schools that they should not have books with flags in them because according to you flags has to do with politics?!!

Stupid.

I've forgotten the various options for posting photos in these forums. :(

Here is a New Zealand flag - on the Fiordland Explorer in Doubtful Sound in the South Island. Great trip!

Ahh - I got it right!

Taken with the Canon G5 before I became a serious photographer. Funny, now that I'm a pro and sort of know what I'm doing, I still feel I have yet to capture a better image... IMO

Having been on our local veteran's post honor guard, it has been my pleasure to not only salute Old Glory BUT also to fold it in military precision to be presented to the family of the deceased.

Regardless of whom your alliances belong to, when one sees a nations flag, you cannot help but think about those who fought and died for it.

Sorry to waste bandwith, but I have been to so many funerals at Arlington National Cemetery and the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punch Bowl, O'ahu, Hawaii) that seeing Old Glory sends me off into a tangent.

You guys have taken some great shots of your flags. Great job!
