I'm curious (anyone else curious?) about the longevity of digital cameras since reading about a possible 20,000 picture MTBF rating on the shutters of the E-xx series. I don't even know if my UZi has a leaf shutter like the E-xx series.
I'm not likely at my current rate to run up 20,000 pics in what would likely be considered to be the average lifetime of a camera. What do people here consider to be the average lifetime anyway? (I have an OM-1 film SLR that I bought used in 1981 and it still works great!)
I take WAY more shots with my digital camera than I ever did film, but still, I mainly use my digital for family snapshots (about 110 shots at my son's first b-day party a couple weeks ago) versus creative photography, so I don't take a huge number of shots compared to most here (2 kids under 3yo...so not a lot of free time...though I hope to get out there more).
C-2100, 13 months, approx. 2500 shots, no problems
