Hello,

yes, I did it. I abused my 7-14 as a pseudo Macro-Lens ;)

That is the result when children do sleep and when they not have secured their toys from their father ....

Best greetings Daniel

E-3, 7-14, 7mm, f22 @20s

The front fireman was about one centimeter of the front lens. The ship has colided with the lens hood :D

Love it! Thanks for sharing. :) (n/t)

I love the expression on the lego peoples faces. it adds to the drama. I'm going to have to try this, but will first require raiding my parents attic some day when I visit.

Oh and you didn't abuse it, you just know how to use it creatively. That's half the battle.

Daniel,

that is the use of the ZD 7-14mm. No boring postcard landscapes, but this type of creative photography :-)

I'm starting to want this lens more and more.

Cool!
Astonishing DOF for such a closeup!
And the f22 doesn't seem to soften or apply any substansial diffraction either!
Really nice outcome, I think.

Myself, I have avoided f16-22, with exception of one single shot with my 7-14.
But that picture didn't turn out to bad either, so maybe these small apertures
are more usable than we think..?

Diffraction really kills big enlargements however unlike lens softness diffraction is very evenly spread out over the image so your eye doesn't recognize the softness as much and unlike OOF the images it still reasonably sharp.

I'm at work so I can't see your image (work servers block photo sharing sites) so I'm tagging this so I can view it when I get home...(c'mon 5:00!)...

I just ordered an ultra wide angle lens for another system (Sigma 10-20 for Nikon D200) so I'm eager to see different types of photos people get with an UWA...

I have mine for a couple of weeks now (first the demo that I borrowed for two weeks, now my own copy since a couple of days), and I haven't really gotten further in exploring it than the usual landscapes and stuff (yes, it's WOW, but still kinda predictable).

Like this (don't want to hijack your thread, maybe I'll post bigger versions in another thread to ask for C&C...) :
Electric high voltage tower :

Gloomy trees :

I guess doing crazy stuff like your wonderful effort, will come next in a few days...

You can sell this to the toy company for their next catalog ;)
Nice picture, thanks for sharing.

If you can afford it then get it. It opens up some many photographic oppurtunities. It really is a fun lens. But yes you have to worry how close you get to that foreground object since this thing can focus rather closely.

Nice use of a fantastic lens...

I think I want to bring my 7-14mm into my next "female form" studio session at the camera club...and just do macro work.

And a very creative use of this superwide lens. Love the deep DOF.

Well you know what they say: 5% of people abuse their 7-14mm while the other 95% lie and deny it. ;-)

That is an awesome photo! I love the colors and how you really captured the "plastic-ness" of those toys.
