I'm now a proud father of a new little boy! This was my main reason to get the F707.

He came before my HVL-F1000 flash did, so I had to do without. But the shaytech flash enhancer helped quite a bit. (Thanks Shay!)

As always I welcome feedback, even critical. There hasn't been any time to "doctor" up the photos yet, so I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Samuel comes home today, so I'll have more time to compose better shots (and maybe learn some photo-editing).

Congratulation,

I just can not immagine myself in your situation - running around with the camera while your wife is doing all the hard work. You have to admit that you have chosen the easier part for this moment. ;o)
Shots are great and so is the baby. And Samuel is wonderful name.

Sorry Kimberly. You're right, the birth pictures are a little intense. (Too bad this STF Challenge isn't photojournalism again!) I chose to use the white background for this gallery to try and soften the intensity of the first four pictures. But still I wanted to express the struggle, and miracle at the same time.

Your wife is a gracious lady for sharing such a life event, and her husband is pretty cool too.

I thought your shots were amazing, especially when you think about how bad the hospital lighting was. You did a fantastic job, and I think the joy you felt for your wife, and son came through each picture.

I got to admit though, my favorite is the close up of your son's foot....he has such cute little toes.

Thank you. Yes I did have the easier part! She was afraid I was going to pass out (like my Dad) at the sight of the surgery. I'm actually very interested in the whole process, and handled it just fine.

It was interesting to me that they would allow a still camera, but not a video camera in the room. I found out later that the video footage can be used against them in a case of malpractice. I was confident in their abilities, but didn't know how I felt about having my right suppressed. But everything went well, and I would do still photos instead of video again anyway.

My wife is pregnant and due at the end of June. We are very excited as you can guess. Don't know which model we are getting yet...

very interesting, I didn't know that. When my daughter was born c-section last June, I asked to take my S75 along to the OR, and they said no problem. They never said anything else. So I was debating til we got down to the OR: pics or video? I decided to shoot video:

maybe they just didn't realize that my S75 could shoot video, I don't know, but they never said anything to me, and I wasn't told that I couldn't take video, so I did.
