Hi,

I am having a Canon 350D body. Planning a buy a wide angle lens. Which is the best wide angle lens in EF - L series which has got good image quality?

Preferably let me know both one with Image Stabilizer and with out Image Stabilizer.

Thanks
Kandha

It depends on how wide you want it to be...

The EF-S 10-22mm is about the widest you will get on a 1.6 crop body, not an EF lens like you mentioned, but there is really nothing comparable.

For an EF L series lens, have a look at the 17-40mm f4 and 16-35mm f2.8, both designed as wide angle lens for a full frame camera, so on a 1.6 body they become just a wide angle rather than ultra wide angle, but might be what you are looking for.

For IS have a look at the EF-S 17-85 IS, still not perfect, not quite as wide as the above lens, and really more of a general walkabout lens (a bit too much barrel distortion on the wide end for use as a proper wide angle) but gives you a lot more range on the other end, and comes with IS

These are all Canon lenses, Sigma make a 10-22mm and 15-35mm which might fit the bill, and Tamron do the 12-24mm which are all pretty damn wide.

Better still would be the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM.

Hello, why you dot buy the Sigma 10-20 mm. I use it on my canon 350D, and it is such a fine lens. See the pictures at many sites and you will agree with me.
If you want to correct something at the shortest side (10mm) use a correting.
I am sure, you will be happy with this lense.

How much do you want to spend?

The 17-40L is the most economical WA lens. You can go into a more utilitarian 24-105L IS lens which is really nice. The 24-70L 2.8 is also nice, but no IS.

16-35 is also nice, but will limit to specifically WA only.

If you have the money, I would opt for the 24-105L as I went through a couple copies of the 24-70 before getting one that was not front focusing.

Good luck!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right!

You can make correction in the program PT-lens. Look for it at internet.

It works as a plugin in PhotoShop but as well as a stand-alone. All kind s of lensfaults you can correct with this program.

This is a great wide angle lens and very reasonably priced. It's not an IS lens but it is fast (2.8), very sharp and has great color and clarity. I have been extremely pleased with it's performance. It is definitely worth checking out. Here is an example of what this lens can produce....
