The Samsung was there on display. But the most interesting thing is the K20D was for sale on the Camera World stand. They had delivery of a few cameras on the Saturday from Pentax - They wern't expecting them.

So I bought a body... £750 + free 4Gb Lexar Pro card.

I just didn't expect to get hold of one before March. So i didn't take any kit except for a Fuji F31d. With the body in hand, I picked up a S/H Pentax KA 50mm F1.7 for £10 - So I could take a few shots around the show.

I'll post a link to the photos soon.

OK

Thats Birmingham UK....

A first for us Brits? :-)

You will excuse me for nor uploading the raw files as they are betweem 23-30Mb+ !! So here are 4 JPG's at High Quality from Adobe Bridge. The EXIF info should be preserved.

Note they are all grab shots (you try doing anything decient loaded down with Camera Show junk...)

The portrait and Balloon shot are at 6400ASA ther rest at 800SASA+

PS. The Burst mode is an excellent way to fill up the SD card! You try eraising 100+ low res rubbish images in the camera!

Go to:
http://www.k20d.fotopic.net (it will take a few minutes or so to come on-line)

Looks like you had some nice models for your first pictures too. The way your lucks going you should buy a Lottery ticket today too.

camera world actually had them last week,at there store in london,as i bought the k20d on thursday along with the new da 200 f2.8,and i paid a £25.00 deposit on the new DA* 300 f4.congrats on your new purchase, i love mine.all i need to do is sell the rest of my stuff on pentaxforums to be able to afford the 300

Well, the portrait is easy to handle in neat image. Iso 6400 is high, but the details are still more than oke after PP.

The balloons never needed iso 6400 cause there's enough light to at least do a iso 800 without a problem. But the noise disappears beatifully, mostly at about 50 to 60% setting. Just printed it....to find out I ran out of cyan :-(
But really, the grain that is left is very hard to spot.

I'm sticking to my initial opinion that in high iso the k20d may be half to a full stop better than the k10d. But it is very good in PP, and that effectively adds another stop at least.
Now lets hope Gordon is wrong about DR.....

Even the 6400 images can be cleaned up fairly well...but, the first image appears to be fairly noisy for 800 ???? not much different from the K10D, May be the image was underexposed ?????

It's a weird picture by all means. It's noisy like iso 3200. The banding is faint, but as far as I know, if i's there it should be horizontal. It's not really underexposed, so that's not the big deal either. It might be the light/dark difference in the scene, but at iso 800 i've seen the k10d do better. This one is for Sherlock Holmes...

I think the first image is slightly underexposed. I've checked for banding on the original and can't see any. Also there was no noise reduction applied to thiese images (not in the camera or in the RAW processing).

I didn't want to offend the K20D owners, so underplayed it, .....I was really thinking the first image was almost like the 1600 image if the K10D when I frist saw it and thus my question about ISO's in the first place....I put the last two at 3200 and pleasantly surprised when he said 6400. The second image is a stunner for 800.
