Thanks everyone for saving me big bucks with the Sears price matching tip!

I wasn't able to use the amphotoworld.com $600 price - they weren't on the Sears approved list and the salesperson actually checked. Instead I used the $645 price from GiftSplash.com:

http://www.giftsplash.com/propage.cfm?part=2061

..and that worked just fine. I was about ready to pay $920. Now, I'm getting the flash, lens hood and a 128MB stick or two for free (using fuzzy math).

Thanks again! I can't wait for the battery to charge!

I don't know where the policy is written anywhere, but I know that they called some price match hotline that is only accessible by Sears and the amphotoworld.com price of $600 was rejected because they sell International / gray market stuff. But the $45 higher price from giftsplash.com was also called into the same hotline and was authorized. It took two trips, but was well worth it. I didn't get as low a price as some others have posted, but I'm happy with my savings.

I bought the camera in Columbia, MD.

I've stepped way up from my Mavica FD73! I haven't done much with digital in awhile because my camera was really bad and I was back into 35mm. I was holding out for that next generation digital camera that has it all. I think the 707 is pretty damn close to perfect for a prosumer model. When they come out with a 35mm size Foveon CCD, I'll make the jump to digital SLR. For now, it's just too expensive and too quickly obsolete. Look at all the Nikon D1x/h that are pretty much old school based on the Nikon D100 that is less than half the price. I guess if you're making money off it, it's worth it. I'll wait for the features/price to stabilize a little.

Now I need the lens hood and flash so I can "trick" it out.

The only problem is that it doesn't come with a US warranty

I am also living close to Columbia, MD. So you went to the one in Columbia Mall? Just brought the ad from giftsplash.com?
Did you check the serial number to make sure it does not have a defect?

I really appreaciate your help!

I definitely comes with a US waranty. I bought it at Sears using the price match. Sears gave me the same camera they would have sold me for $999, but I bought it for $675 using the printout from GiftSplash.com ($645 on GiftSplash.com plus Sears adds the $30 shipping you would have paid). So I walked out of Sears with the full US waranty and $324 extra in my pocket. I was sceptical, but it's fully legit. The salesperson even called HQ to authorize the reduced price.

Now, if I bought it at http://www.amphotoworld.com , I don't think I would have a warranty.

Matt,

Glad it worked out. I think this is the first bargain that worked out in years. Just placed an order for the flash, a hood and a 128MB memory stick - ecost.com has the sandisk sticks on sale for 59.99 with a 10.00 rebate (limit 1).
