I kinda like the low key, low profile approach to camera straps. Bright yellow letters on a black stripe are fine, if your ego is so tightly wrapped to your camera. (I even black out the red "steal me" dots on my Leicas and tape over the "Leica M6".)
Over the years I've liked the Domke straps, which have a cotton web neck band with rubber interwoven for grip. Most of what you see in stores (if you can find them) have the swivels, which I don't like. Online you can find them swivel-less and in colors like dark blue and tan in addition to black.
Recently I happened upon the Lowe-Pro Speedster, which is another low (lowe?) profile strap. It has all nylon construction (with rubber grip threading). There are two quick-releases towards the ends, and the smaller strapping that attaches to the camera is pretty rugged. This strap resists twisting naturally. I'm a little bit both ways regarding the quick releases. They seem pretty secure, and might even make packing the camera a little easier. I'll probably take advantage of them when I resume shooting sports on the body I use with the big lens on a monopod. Going tourist with that strap...I was thinking about drilling a small hole in the center and using a zip-tie to safety-lock the quick release in situations where I really wanted to make sure everything stayed together. I always travel with a bunch of ties anyway, so no big deal there.
Wide neoprene straps never appealed to me, especially in hot weather.
Take a look at Think Tank straps too.
