I spent two weeks with my wife's family in Carmona, Cavite and was able to travel around a bit as well (my father in law is head of security for cebu pacific). Getting there was no fun (not found of china airlines because of them we lefton the 22cd and arrived on the 26th) but I loved the country (except for the traffic in Manila) and the people I met. I used a 15-30, 100mm 3.5 macro, a 50mm 1.7 and a manofrotto tripod. I brought an k10d and istds but only used the k10d and an optio a30. Nols, thanks for the idea about lake Taal. Although I did not get their til the 26th it turned out that we had a wedding reception there.

Looked like you enjoyed yourself, Aaron. Too bad we weren't able to meet up. I was actually in a group shoot for a sunrise shoot at Tagytay last Jan 26.

The church in Bohol is called Baclayon church - one of the oldest here in the Philippines. Took my family there last summer.

Thanks for posting, these bring back pleasant memories - I spent 3 months at San Miguel - just north of Bataan on the the South China sea, in 1971. I was walking distance to the beach - snorkled along the Capone Islands - great beach, great diving, great sunsets, great beer (San Miguel). I didn't own a camera back then, so thanks again for posting.

Nice set of photos. I was particularly impressed the colors of the first 4 photos that you posted. The indoor shots came at very well. But overall very nice.

I believe you are correct. It was kinda sad because some of the Tarsius did not look too healthy. I had an very sharp photo of another one but it had an eye infection. They are loosing there habitat as is the Philippino Eagle. Thanks for the comment.
looks like you had fun. The tarsius monkey I think is one or its the
smallest in the world. The coconut was really fresh.

thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment and the name of the church Nols -maybe next time? I will be back in a year. I do not know how people afford cameras and gear there - I saw an optio m40 for about 11,000 pisos at a shop in sm mall. Its about 150 here. A *istds was about the same price as a k10d. The church is very beautiful and spiritual place even for non catholics. SR came in very handy as you can see.

I missed the superbowl and my primarys but it was well worth it. Thanks for the comment.
Great shots Aaron. I also came back from the Philippines just in
time for Superbowl.

Glad you had a good time.

I wish I had that much time. Two weeks did not cut it.. Thanks for the comment and maybe you can get back now that you have a camera.

Thank you for the kind words. It is funny that my k10d seemed to do well in low light when it is not considered a low light camera. The sr was helpful in the church.

Your welcome, it is a amazing place with great people and I still have not been to the whole country.
Thanks for showing us a photogenic part of the world that I did not
know much about.

I posted a couple pics from taal but the haze was pretty bad that day. I actually never had a chance to go to the volcano itself.
I see a lot from Bohol, did you take any at Taal? Did you get a
chance to take the horse ride to the top of the island?
