These were taken in Lower Manhattan on a bright sunny day. ISO 200 at f/4 using aperture mode.

f/4 and f/5.6 seems to be the sharpest aperture(s) on the 17-55mm lens.

Front Street [1/1600 at f/4]

Front Street [1/4000 at f/4]

Fulton Street [1/3200 at f/4]

Fulton Street [1/2500 at f/4]

Water Street / Brooklyn Bridge Reflection [1/250 at f/4]

City Hall Park Fountain Bronze Fixture, selective coloring [1/2500 at f/3.2]

your street scenes and captures are amazing as usual. Excellent photography. Thanks for all your posts and helpful information along the way.

You have done a great job dialing in the camera. Colors / saturation
are great.

Did you do any perspective control on these?
Thanks Unc :D

To answer your question, yes I did. I used CS3's Lens Correction tool to fix the obvious perspective in looking up at buildings.

I like the 1st and the last best.
Nice composition, tough light well handled.
Did you use curves and levels in capture nx?
Fred
Thank you Fred.

Yes, during batch conversion from raw to jpeg, NX 1.3 takes the settings from the camera and applies to the final image as well as an automatic Levels adjustment to each image.

I do my finally tweaking using PhotoShop CS3.

Nice ones Dez - I feel like I'm there. I like the natural colors,
Capture NX does a great job in that department, and a good eye for it
helps a lot too ;-).

Thanks,

Thank you Albert-O.

Capture NX 1.3 does a fine job of conversions. I found that out a couple of months ago. It's a capable editor but lacks in what PhotoShop offers.

Thanks again for the comments.

--Gad, Dez! You make me homesick for old New York! I love the B&W
storefront! Makes me want to move downtown. They're all great. Boy,
that D300 has some clarity eh?
Tom
Sure does Tom ;) The 17-55mm lens makes the difference. Thanks.

That area Downtown is expensive by the way!

Ah, that's the reason, Dez. I already wondered why you use so high
shutter speed an low aperture. Nice series by the way. Like the BW's

Heinz
Yes, I remember you asking me why the high shutter speed on stationary subjects. I like to shoot in Aperture mode and at that larger aperture (f/4), more light will get in on.

Thanks!

--I just checked the price of that 17 -55 f/2.8. Sounds like you have enough money to move down there, Dez!

Tom
Not really. I prefer the rent in Queens :D

As for the lens, you only live once...........

Man you're getting some great shots with that 300. Is that an
industrial district, food district of some kind? Looks nice and
clean. I'm still wondering if I'm going to NY this spring but if I do
I can't wait to see some of those spots.

Thanx for bringing the beauty of NY to Dallas!

Albert
Thank you Albert.

This area is near the South Street Seaport. Downtown is actually the oldest neighborhood in Manhattan.
