Puppy Dog Eye's..........Great fun for painters

The paint looks great. Love the texture in it matched to the style of paint.

Not to shabby for a quickie. Thanks also for the link. i seen him before and your right, it might be just a bit to much but still cool and get get some bits and pieces from it.

Thanks, Fred

I also have a group of my daughter's cheerleading team. I did a
really quick group and didn't have a flash so I got what I could. Was
wondering if there were any suggestions you might have to give a shot
like this some kind of fun look that I could print a 8x10 with.
I will probably reshoot (if needed) it but wondered about what you
think i could do with it as is. The teacher is the cute woman on
the end and I thought her name fit her pretty
good........................Ms. Fox (LOL, not kidding)

I know... I know.... I need to get out more....

;-)

regards,
Carl

Combination of styles:

Hello Peano, Thanks for the great retouch. So was I right? Does she not fit her name. It's like being bald and your real name Mr Bald.

Thanks again, Fred

Nice Pics Fred,

My play:

Hello All,
This shot is one of my fav's. The expression says so much. I
started to do a smudge and forgot to add some saturation and
sharpness to the image first.
I am not a Pro with this style but believe my ressults came out more
subdued because of that. I thought I would leave as is and let a you
have some painting fun with it. The cropped shot I did just for fun
and added a little more paint effect.

Here is a link to original jpeg without any post work:

I hope its OK to do like my last post and add a few more misc. shots
just incase someone finds another they might like. I kinda like
doing it that way instead of several individual post.
I added some wedding shots with the links to originals above them.

Thanks for looking, Fred

Hello Fred, just so you know the wb's off and blown hightlights, not close enought to be a preference.

While pp's fun, I highly rec you looking for something to deal w/ wb and learn the color wheel to pp on it. In term of blown hightlights, shoot raw and check out Bruce Fraser's real world raw.

I did a quick search on that book and this also came up. http://www.macworld.com/2005/01/downloads/cameraraw.pdf

Thought you might like . I didn't read it all but it looks like some free info on what makes a camera work and digital raw.

As far as WB. Thats a issue that will go on for ever depending on who's looking at the image. I just did a post here that hit 148 and no one said anything about WB.
There was several misc shots. This one here I bet you might be the only one.

So I can bet if I set-up my monitor or adjust image to look good on yours, it might be off on others. Not saying my WB is perfect but I found its close to looking good on most calibrated and un-calibrated monitors. Problem is most people looking at my work are not Pro's. They are moms and dads and brides and grooms that bought thier PC at bestbuy and have the same as I probably do.

As far as highlights. Yes I have to work on that but its a bigger beast than WB Its almost impossible at times to get rid of all blown highlights when white is one of the main colors (at least for me) I'm still looking for that magic to make it happen but its hard at times. Whites are the #1 most reflective and I see that on many high paid Pro's sites too.

Thanks for the Info and advice.

Fred

On the child looks like a work from the artist Dali. On the wedding image looks like a effect that could go in the brides book. They like that kind of work.

Thanks, Fred

Fred,

Such a great shot! It is another of your wonders. You seem to have so many of them. Could it be that you're a very talented photographer? :) Duh.

This is my "straight" version of it. I plan to put it aside until after taking Scott's course later this month. Then I'll try a painted version for you.

I'm sure your monitor is calibrated but I noticed what I always notice on some retouches by others. When someone has what they condsider a pleasing WB, its red on mine. On the other hand I have seen many retouchs by people like Sam, Scott, Pam Pictus, Pixel etc etc and they look great without that same red color I see. If my monitor is off then wouldn't it be red on most of them?

I do alot with families, brides etc and these people probably have the same type montior set-up as mine. If I set mine up to be better I worry that when they look at my images they might appear red to them and maybe turn them off.

What is your thoughts on this.

Thanks again Marty and I mentioned this cause yours was more red to me than i have seen before.

Fred (by the way great retouch, Thanks)

Hey Fred,

Thought I would offer a word of advice... if you haven't already done so, pick up one of the great monitor calibration tools like the Spyder Pro ( http://www.colorvision.com/product-mc-s3pro.php )

It should help you atleast have a baseline that you can trust your own monitor. They are easy to use and earn their price quickly... atleast mine did.

Hope this helps.
