how to play AVI movie clips?

I took my first movie clips today with my S30.

Quite cute 30 second clips although I wish there was a way to do more being that I had a 256mbyte card.

Anyway - which media players can play this AVI? v7 Windows Media Player and REAL did not work. Quick-Time did work however.

also- what are the .THM files?

Are u sure Windows Media Player doesnt work? I play my AVI from G1 every time on WMP.

I just downloaded the latest WMP v7.
All I get is the sound track from the AVI but no video.

I have used Windows Media Player v7 to play AVI files from my S40, and it works fine. My brother and sister have tried the same version of WMP on their computers and it doesn't work. I heard someone say success depends on having some particular CODEC installed on your computer. I didn't do anything special to get this to work, but I wonder if the necessary CODEC was included with some of my other video software, like Video Wave, and WMP is able to use it.

If anyone knows the secret to gettiing WMP to play AVI files, I would like to know, so I can tell my brother and sister how to get it to work.

I also know that the latest version of Quicktime (from Apple) will play the AVI files, though earlier versions of Quicktime will not.
