Tell me it is not scam

that price for the D40 is probably close

for a 40D, it's too good to be true

They have D40 for $674 and they have good review too. Is it scam? Thks

The "they" with the $674 price for the Canon 40D (not the D40) in this case is cameraaddict.com, not everyprice.com (which is a shopping aggregator). Clicking on the unbelievably low-priced link goes to the following page:

http://www.cameraaddict.com/viewproduct.aspx?ID=3610421&l=Everyprice

Wow! That's a sweet price!

However, a quick check at resellerratings.com results in the following:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Camera_Addict

"Misleading and potentially fraudulent store. They were forcing me to upgrade with overpriced add-on in order to get a camera in English. They waited until the 2nd phone call and until January 31st to tell me I had to pay $200 more to get the camera in English. Horrible experience!!!!!"

Most of the other reviews are similarly worded. If you're a real shopping daredevil and are willing to risk a bait-and-switch trap to get the Canon 40D for that SWEET price of $674, go for it. Let us know how it went.

Is it a D40 (Nikon) or 40D (Canon)? The Nikon price is about right with what others are advertising. My guess is it is a Nikon - without going to the website you listed.

cut and paste from the website

Canon EOS-40D 10.1 Megapixels Digital SLR (Body Only)

the price is $647

Well, their 'Featured' and 'Trusted' sellers are some of the biggest scam companies around. They are always coming up in these forums.

Start running away.

There are several of these sellers on the internet. All of them are from Brooklyn New York, all from the same part of the world and they are all theives. It's a scam. Call them up and as soon as you hear the accent hang up. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They also sell stuff on ebay. I was just looking for a canon efs 55-250mm that no local store has but these jokers say they have 9 in stock. I called 3 local Canon dealers and they told me the lens hasnt even been shipped to the dealers yet.

REALITY CHECK TIME: If you havent learned this life lesson yet please do. IF IT'S SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT'S A SCAM!

There is no way you will get a NEW 40d for $647.00 unless its stolen.

I'm surprised how often this comes up still; I thought it was common knowledge by now.

Here's the basic flowchart you should use.

1) Is said camera more than 10-15% below the price everyone else sells at?

If yes,

2) Is the dealer in Brooklyn NY or nearby?

If yes,

3) Is the dealer Adorama, B&H, Calumet, or other "big name" photo store?

If no

IT IS A SCAM.

And here is how ALL these stores work.

You order. You get an e-mail saying you have to call for "verification". The "verifier" informs you that the item on the site is one of the following:

-Not the USA version, and therefore has no warranty

-Has no battery, charger, or manual - buy you can buy them for (X= retail price - their price!)

-Oh, and you'll need a $200 set of coke-bottle filters with that, you know.

If you insist on just taking it as-is, it will mysteriously become, and remain, out of stock. If you go ahead with the deal, you'll end up getting a refurb or returned camera for the price you could have gotten a new one (with some service and backing) at an authorized, reputable retailer.

ANYONE who goes through with purchasing at a store like this after reading all the warnings all over here, photo.net, and other places, deserves what they get out of greed ignorance.

Do not walk, run away from this store.

Thank you guys. I guess when budget is tight, you will do anything to convince yourself it is not scam. I always dream to have 40D with nice L len w/o paying more than $2k. I think I will stick with my S3IS for a while.

Canon S3 IS
Nikon Coolpix 3100
Nikon N60(sold)
Nikon N50(sold)

Looks like a 40D body and 70-200 f4L would come in at just under $2,000. That lens isn't just nice either... it's said to be the sharpest of their 70-200 lineup. Youd be hard pressed to find a flaw with that setup, assuming the 70-200 suits your shooting needs.

Glad you didn't fall for that scam... good luck with your decision :)

Check out their ratings:

Sounds like Express Cameras (a well known scammer) has set up yet another on-line presence so they can try to escape their well-deserved reputation. This is par for the course for these folks. Once everyone is on to you, you just change your name and continue business as usual under a new name.

Beware!

As you requested.

But the fact is, it is a scam. Stay away.
