but I ordered an E1...for a price of $399 CDN plus tax brand new. The store only has one in stock and I should be getting the E1 in 2 weeks. Cant wait to actually use a pro body with weahter sealing and etc... I am sure it would an upgrade to my E500 AND it was for only $399... but if the E1 does end up to be working properly, I think I will go and buy hte SHLD2 for it too... but yea... got hte last of the E1 body only from that store basically... altho they still got more kits with the 14-45 kit lens for $599 as i mentioned earlier,

Well done. I agree with Barry, get the SHLD-2 if you can. With an E-1, if the camera starts writing to card, you will not be able to shoot again until the writing process has been concluded. So yes, you have a 12-shot buffer, but without the grip, you can only fill it if you do so in one continuous burst.

If you're hiking and shooting scenery, you would not want or need to have the grip, but if you are shooting weddings or air shows, and especially if you want to shoot RAW files, you gotta have that grip.

Cheers, Baddboy.

Get the grip. Get the 15-54, 11-22, 50-200, fl50. Be happy! Take great pictures. Make some noise. Become better photographer. Experience the magic. Be glad you did.

You can still upgrade.

E-3???

I NEED that??

of the stuff u listed, only things i dont have are the E3 and the Fl50.. lol... for fourthirds i now have the Fl-36, 14-45, 40-150 (old), 14-54, 50-200 non SWD, 11-22, E500, and E1 (when it arrives)... and also sigma 105mm macro =D I want the E3 but the E1 is gonna be good for time when i need a ewahte proof camera and I htink i will use the E1 more htan the E500 unless if i really need the extra pixels.

Yoko you are going to love the E-1 feel and quality. I just bought an E-1 on ebay last week and have fallen in love with the camera. I bought my E-510 a couple of months ago and while I am very happy with the 510 I was still wanting a second body to shoot two of my children’s' weddings coming up later this year. I considered the E-3, but the cost and reported focus issues were keeping me on the sideline.

The ebay seller listed this camera as only having 10 actual shutter actuations and stated the camera was purchased new as a backup. I took the chance and bought the camera for $450 US. Upon receipt I discovered the camera actually did only have 14 actuations and was in new condition with only a slight scuff on the flash mount bracket. The only disappointment was that the seller shipped the camera with a used, aftermarket battery instead of the BLM-1. As soon as I took my first photo with the E-1 it immediately became my primary camera (14-54) and I keep my 50-200 SWD mounted on my E-510 because of the 510's IS. Someday I still hope to upgrade to another pro body but for now I have two very capable bodies. Hopefully Olympus and Kodak will partner up in the not too distant future for an E-5 (or whatever) utilizing the new Kodak CMOS sensor technology reported yesterday on this site yesterday.

I hope your camera arrives in the condition you are expecting and you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

E-1 with the 14-54, E-510 with the 50-200. Nice...

I'm really very excited about the possiblities for 4/3rds. I think that Olympus have got into a great position (at last!) with the E-410, E-510 and E-3... really strong appeal to serious photographers who want innovation, quality and value for money - and highly competitive with the more common mainstream cameras.

The recent IS firmware upgrade has made a lot of long time Olympus users with legacy glass very happy indeed... with this announcement by Kodak, even the diehard 'ya canna change the laws of physics, 4/3rds will always be limited' crowd may finally see the light of day.

Exciting times ahead!

Kind Regards

Brian

... a long while back. I've not had one single regret, the E-1 is just that good in terms of IQ even at large prints. I've printed many 16x20's from it and while it does not quite have the detail of a 10MP sensor, the dynamic range, color signature and tonality well make up for the every so slight reduction in resolution in large prints. Learn to use it and it will serve you well. I did buy the battery grip and the combo just feels like an ergonomic wonder. Looking forward to seeing some pics. -Norm

Can't tell you how many times I've said the same thing! (Well, just ask my wife...)will be as good

Having owned an E-1 for 4 years, dragged it all over as I traveled, and made thousands of images with it, have no doubt it's been among the best equipment I've experienced using. From the moment I unpacked it, the camera seemed a natural extension of my hands and eyes, a joy to use.

Not without its quirks, as people have often recited. However, when accommodated, my E-1 and I produced beautiful images. When it was possible to get proper exposure, adequate shutter speed, accurate focus and DOF, I could print images at 17"x22" that still amaze people. I seriously doubt that E-3 images will look better, just maybe a bit more often when conditions are adverse.

And I can assure you, the E-1 is very "splashproof" indeed. Here in the northwestern states (or as some like to call it, the Upper Left Coast), rain is not a rarity. To me, one of E-1's best attributes has been the ability to take it along and not give a thought to the weather--otherwise I could hardly accomplish anything at all photographically.

Your new "classic" is a marvelous tool. Stay healthy and use it well.

Take care,
Jules.

Hi Yoko Dam.You wont be sorry buying a E-1 it's my main camera and my other two DSLR's being back ups Cheers Bob.
