Which mode do you use the most?

Steve,

That makes sense that manual would be used in studio and more controlled settings.

Thanks for responding.

Most would say it's over saturation ;-)

However, I try to reconstruct it as I see it. Wet, cloudy bright, shade & late in day help depending on the subject.

Dennis,

I like your caterpillar shot and the ice on the shore at Yellowstone. Nice portfolio!
I'm trying out a smug mug account now.

Thanks for the insights.

Ivan,

I guess you get much faster after getting used to a certain process. It seems like the other modes will be easy for you after using manual so much.

Wow. What a portfolio!

What are your considerations when capturing moving water?
  • Keith L
Thanks Keith.

It depends on the light and how fast the water is moving. To get the misty seawater effect you'll need about 2 seconds if the water is moving fast. I have gone up to 8 seconds. Aperture normally f8 to f22, depending the light.

To get that kinda plastic water effect in a river/stream you only need about 0.5secs, basically because it's moving so much faster.

And, I always use a tripod and always use the mirror lockup and self-timer.

thanks for your kind comments.
