Thanks very much for your reply. Would you mind saying more about your suggestion? I would like to understand better.

Jim,

Thanks for the reply and feedback. The image was initially titled, "Red light", but when I posting I starting thinking it was more orange-red and I changed it. My monitor at home is also calibrated. I will definitely take a closer look at the colors when I get home today.

The shot was taken during a dance concert. The stage lighting was really cool during this scene- I loved the sillouette.

Best wishes,

I like the background color and silhouettes in this picture. I think it could be improved if the person who is cut off on the left side were not there. I also think it would be better if the full lamp were visible at the top of the frame or if it were not visible at all.

As far as the color goes, I see red - not orange. I'm used to this though, because my wife and I rarely agree on what color things are.

Thanks very much for the feedback.

I went back and edited the image incorporating your suggestions. I think it makes for a stronger image compositionally. I really wish I had the whole oriental lamp in the original shot!

This work better?

This edit is better. It is good to have the person on the left gone from the frame.

As I go back and forth between the two pictures, I realize 2 things about the lamp:
  • It has a lot of character and the color complimented the background very well.
  • With only a small part of it showing at the top of the frame, it continually drew my eye away from the people and up to the edge of the picture.
I think it was the right choice to remove it. I also think that had it been fully in the frame and not competing for the attention of the silhouettes, it would have made a very nice element of the composition.

Thanks very much for looking. Good suggestion. I don't want the dancers falling off the stage!
