I know it's not perfect but I'm still learning my camera.....

Camera: Canon 350D
Lense: Helios 58mm/f2

what do you think? Thanks for your comments.

Thanks

Hi BBarclay, welcome.

The cat

Seems frightened or unhappy. Also the angle you are shooting her is not very helpfull.

so, if you shoot your pets, first talk to them, and place them in a position or situation they like.

The man

The cropping is a little too tight. There could be some more place at the top or the bottom. An other option could have been to cropp even more.

You can't do it on all portraits, but its mostly a good thing trying to put the most important eye on a 1/3 position.
A good thing you did was leaving some space in the direction he is looking.

The ??? view

I realy don't see wat was your attraction when taking the photo? It all seems a chaos. Always try to make it clear wath was the story. And This shot is clearly overexposed.

I don't know about your PP skills and software. But the 3 photo's could use some level ajustments.

Not realy great shots, but if you where a pro photograph, you wouldn't ask some tips for improving.
So, keep sharing to improve.

Thank you for sharing. However, here is my $0.02. Please don't take these as offensive, just trying to help.

Cat - It was already stated that he should be at a different angle, and have a "cuter" expression. Having pets myself, I know that this is not always easy, however. Also, it has not been mentioned that it doesn't appear to be totally in focus. Maybe it's just my screen, but it does not look as sharp as it should, or maybe not even in focus.

Portrait - Good attempt here. It appears to be somewhat in focus, but the cropping is way too extreme for my taste. I second the "zoom out" approach that was mentioned in the response previous to mine. I'm never a fan of a portrait with parts of the head cut off (in your case, the top and bottom).. with a few exceptions. I have some extremely nice portraits with this done, but 99% of them are not pleasing to my eyes. Also, make sure the eyes are always in focus! Other than that, this was a pretty decent start!!

Last picture - I couldn't even title this one. Hate to be blunt, but it does nothing for me. It's WAY too busy. It looks like it was taken out of a window of a house, looking down over power lines, trees, cars, etc. Sometimes, an extremely simple picture is the best one! In your case - nobody is even going to know where to move their eyes to. There's too much going on. However, if there is a story behind it.. it would be useful to know :)

Just a few of my opinions; take them as you would like....

Hello Ryan

Your comment useful to me because I am a new photography.

But I am still waiting for the 0.02$.

Thanks

Glad you're learning photography! I am learning still after 15 years of picturing. One thing about these pictures I can say. They are taken at the wrong time. You saw a cat, a man, and an interesting street. You need to see how light plays off a cat's whiskers, now the glow of a low sun illuminates the eyes of the man, and how the long shadows cast by light in the street make it look haunted. See light! This means get up early and stay up late. Watch how the light effects the mood of subjects. Light changes by the second in the morning, and by the hour at noon. Get in on the action at sunrise and sun set. Your pictures will improve when you see light.

It's a great time to be involved in photography. Cameras are so accessible. Congrats on a super hobby.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

It sounds like you want to learn. I hope I’m not too harsh.

Cat: OOF and over exposed.

Man: OK, you might want to clone out the 2 lights in the background.

Last: What is the subject? Over sharpened.

Keep at it. You might want to pickup a photography book.
