This female hooded merganser is one of many rescue birds in the aviary at the Queens Zoo in New York City. When it is well enough, it will be released back into the wild. I took the photos laying on my belly with the camera lens between the slats of a bridge railing.

While a very nice close-up photo of this bird, isn't a lot better & more fullfilling when you capture them in the wild or it's just me.
