BL-3 Battery Cover?

Bob,

did the MB-D10 come with the EN-EL3 tray as well as the AA tray?

Jay

Just use AA's.

You don't need the expensive batteries and the expensive cap.

The AA's do seem to do the trick, but everyone including myself wants those better batteries!!!!

Using AAs does work surprisingly well -- the D300 seems to make great use of them and isn't that power hungry, and you can have many sets for the price of one nikon D2/D3 series battery.

On the other hand, the ENEL4 gives you an accurate indication of remaining battery life (not a huge deal since you have the ENEL3 to fall back on with the D300) and also is a lot faster to charge than continually taking in and out the 8 aa's one at a time.

Also, even in JPEG mode, my buffer size didn't seem to get bigger,
still shows [r12] in the viewfinder. Is this 'normal'?

Thanks.

With NR turned off the buffer should increase. Your actual buffer size is the same either way, the camera just estimates a lower buffer due to the possibility you will use the NR.

Tried turning all the Auto's, NR, ...etc. off, but still had the same problem. So long as there is RAW anywhere, it was still slow. I even changed from Uncompressed to Compressed to Lossless Compressed, same thing.

BUT, when I switched colour depth to 12-bit, it suddenly became lightning fast.....

I would never have fiddled with all the other settings I you guys didn't point me in the right direction.

A Big THANK YOU.

Thanks, Bob.

It wasn't obvoius from either Nikon or B&H's websites. The B&H site indicated it only comes with the AA tray.

Nikon's site didn't say anything.
