D60 Newbie

Congratulations on your new aquisition. I bet you have a smile on your face just like Jakes! I am very envious; I am waiting for the D100 to come out, as I have nikon lenses, and I read your previous thread with amusement and angst, because it mirrors what I know I am going to go through.

So, Barbara, I am counting on you to really put that camera to use, so that when my time comes, I shall have no doubts.
Just got the camera Friday. I am loving it, but still trying to get
used to it all.

If you want, take a look I have posted some shots on PBase.

I can tell you it is worth the wait. Before this purchase I couldn't imagine not taking film. In fact, I am going on Vacation at the end of May and was going to bring both camera's. After shooting for a short time this weekend I almost think I am going to leave the film camera home... Oh my, I didn't just say that!

Thanks for the reply!

I hope your camera comes sooner than you think!

Hello,

Looks like your enjoying the camera. Wonderful!!

I just "loved" the "to be 9 again". That is a wonderful pic. I could just imagine being a kid...dreaming big dreams..while looking up at the clouds floating by.

Oh well....even if "prompted" for such a shot...its still a great one. :)

Enjoy...and keep posting pics.

I can imagine being a kid again. It's easy with the D60, I'm like a kid in a candy store.

ah - just bring the film camera along in case you need a "spare"

nice shots

on a trip - since your in the computer biz - if you can bring a laptop with a burner - you'll be all set to dump pics to and burn in nightly. That way you can take thousands if you want without capacity problems.

you should fine that the 16bit tiffs from raws at 35meg a pop - are better quality then you were able to get from film shooting.

you'll soon be in the real enjoyment part of it - where you can experiement creatively without worry for film costs. This starts to get real fun and addictive.

Happy shooting!

Thanks John!

I may just do that... It depends how comfortable I feel in 3 weeks with the D60. I do have a laptop and was toying with bringing it as well. It is always nice to have something for the kids to do on the plane ride and then I will have somewhere to download the PIX.

I have not played with the different file sizes. I currently have it on the default of large.

Thank you Bill. I was a bit disappointed in the flowers they looked tac sharp in the tiny display but I agree they are not as sharp as I would like. The single wide and red flower was taken neer the end of the day. It is a possibility that I was not shooting with the optimum F and speed.

Thanks again for your comments.
You neglected to mention what lens you were you shooting with.

Thanks Mike. I feel like a kid with a new toy!!! I haven't been out shooting for so long that it was a nice change of pace. Although it was a bit challenging having 2 rugrats with me.

LOVE YOUR BUTTERFLIES!!!!
