at last...had a bit of time and some better weather this week so I took the opportunity to take a few snaps which are in the next post....be warned they are big so if on dialup dont say I didnt warn you. They have been converted in PhotoDesk using a variety of Custom Looks and the lens usied is the 28-105 nikkor.

My only regret with getting the 14n is that Kodak are no longer in the slr game 'cus I'm loving it....the canon files seem flat and lifeless compared with the 14n's. I have discovered iso6 isnt an option for me as mine does'nt have the 512mb upgrade required....never mind it was never a deal breaker for me and would have just been an added bonus.

I've used a variety of raw convertors but keep coming back to Photo Desk and have settled on using that now....so simple to use and like RSP is not bloatware something I cant abide.

Some feedback on how they look especially colour would be appreciated as I'm going thru all kinds of colour calibration probs at the mo. Only shortlived I hope the new laptop and desktop have just been ordered from Dell this afternoon.

Anyway enough of my ramblings....pics in next post.

Very nice pics! Thanks for getting 'em up on the board and great job!

You know before I converted my 14n into the Nx (new sensor)
I could take iso 6 pics just fine... and it was only 256mb memory.

One of my options in upgrading to a 512mb buffer as well but I did not want to spen the extra doallrs to do it... nor did I shoot fast enough to require it at the time.
So it's till 256mb.

Actually since I started doing panos a fews years ago I wish now that I would have done it 'cause I do have to wait before shooting the next frame in the series when I bracket each frame (for HDR later or blending)

So I'm thinking your cam may have a problem... or maybe the latest firmware is causing the problem.

I don't know if Nigel has copies of the earlier firmware versions... but I do... I saved all of them:)

So if that is an option you want to explore... let me know as I have the very first version:).

I am surprised to learn of ISO6 being available in the 14n. According to my copy of the User manual, it states ISO 25 as being the lowest in Longer mode. Obviously the guide was produced for the original camera/firmware release date, but can you confirm which firmware update reduced it further to ISO6, Albert?

Maybe HenkL can give some input on this too, as he has the 'virgin' 14n. :)

At first, I thought the plant pot on the tree was a mini-builder's proverbial b*m!

Interesting that the 28-200 Tamron I got with mine can clearly hold its own with other (more expensive) lenses. When it arrived, I thought would have to change it as the first action but became very pleasantly surprised at its quality, so still using it.

Here's one I dun diddid earlier!

Not long to the Meet now - looking forward to seeing you and Shaz again and having a good weekend in Snowdonia again. We can wave our 14ns around together!

It was first implemented in version 4.4.3 release dated Oct. 29th 2003.

And actually that is the oldest version I have available.

Thanks Brian and yes that old Tamron of yours is quite a sleeper....like the pic had a gander at it over at the Z8 gallery. The nikkor I've got is not an expensive lens but somehow on the 14n it seems to deliver better results than you would expect....something to do with the lack of an AA filter maybe?

Really looking forward to the meet now....not long....it'll be nice to take some pics for me for a change.....the schedule of late has left me feeling all photoed out.

Thanks Albert. However, I cannot fathom out why the User Guide dated 29th April ... errr .... April 29th (sorry!) 2004 should still show ISO25 as the lowest selectable ISO in the Longer menu, if the software had already been updated for over a year! This sort of anomaly really does my head in ... pah! ;-)
