Preventing moisture?

My solution for that is a ziploc bag plus a few pack of silicon.
Hi,

Do you think I need an air-tight box that power by electricity, to
protect my G2 from moisture and fungus?

Regards,
Dominic

I agree with Paul. You will never get good photos if you are worrying about protecting your camera. I beat the heck out of my equipment. Just don’t take your camera out in the rain with out protection or submerge it.

Talking about moisture, it's important to consider it when taking your camera to very hot/humid places.

If the camera is kept cold, say in an air conditioned room or even in an air conned car, when you take it out of the cold into the heat, mositure will form very quickly and may cause the camera a problem. At very least it'll steam up the lens !

One way to stop this ( there's probably others) is to keep the camera in a sealed plastic bag. When you take the camera out into the heat, leave it in the bag for a while, say 15 - 20 minutes. That way it'll warm up to the ambient temperature and not steam up when you take it out of the bag.

The same applies to video cameras which seem to be very sensitive to moisture forming on the heads.

Garry.

Mike,

different place has different humidity, Dominic is from Singapore which I believe is very similar to where I am. So if things like lens is being left as is for a long period of time, fungus will develop.

do you plan on taking it to space with you?

it's not needed. my camera sits on a shelf next to my computer. or
a Tenba bag, when i carry it around.

Yes, this is the best advice, also keep a couple of silica gel (moisture absorbant) sachets in the plastic bag , heat these to reactivate by driving out moisture every day or so.
