D60 Stitched Photo Large File

Andreas,
Thank you for your comment.

I do not have any pano-head yet. But is seriously considering Kaidan's product. Canon 50 f1.4 lens
Great Work!

could you post a picture of your pano-Head?
BTW, which lens did you use?

Great job on the photo! Did you use any stitching software, or just photoshop?

I'm waiting to receive my D60 early next week, I haven't tried a lot of panos with my D30 yet, but I'l definetly try a couple on the d60.

I can't believe how crisp the image is, that 50/1.4 is amazing.

I'm in Vancouver, do you mind if I ask where you got your D60 from?

Cheers.

Nice first try, Soolim. I guess you didn't use any stitching software, though... you can do perfect stitches using various software, some said Realviz, Photovista, i preach for Panorama Tools. If you have the time to learn to use it a bit, you'll make wonders. And a panorama head helps a LOT... i can't count the hours i've wasted trying to fight parallax errors, typical on a handheld-shot panorama... it would be done in 5 minutes with a pano head!

Do a search on this forum on 'panorama tools' and you might have all the answers you need (i wrote some!)
Look at my panoramas here
http://galerie.cerise.free.fr/qtvr/

Two of them were handheld (the 'real' ones) and panohl.mov was made using screen captures of Halflife, a computer game, the obvious advantage with pictures from a game is: they are perfectly rectilinear (a vital need when stitching) and needed no correction at all. Pretty good test for your stitching software!! If you want my original pictures to try making panoramas yourself, no problem, i still have them :)

Could you send me the pictures you used for the tower? i'd like to test my skills (i don't have a digicam yet so every opportunity is welcome, to avoid paying fim + processing costs just to try a panorama)

Hope you'll have fun with your panoramas!

Hi e2polgui,

How do I send the pictures to you? There are 4 pictures, each about 18MB Tif. If there is an easy way, I do not mind sending them to you for your trial.

regards,
Soolim

Wow! that's too much!! zip them so that they weigh as much as jpegs (without resaving them, of course!) and maybe you can send one pic per day, letting me the time to empty my mailbox...
i know there's something that can be done, that's why i'm asking :)

Aloha

In addition to the other recommendations for stitching software, you might want to look at Panorama Factor -- http://www.panoramafactory.com . It does a pretty good job and is fairly simple to use. Have a look at some of my results:

http://www.pbase.com/abh/panoramas Most of these were made with my Sony F505V, but the shots of NYC near the bottom are from the D30.
