Hi

I realize I need a telelense for the G2.

I live in Europe, so I need a reasonable priced lense shipping in (or to) Europe.

(My local dealer quoted me 225$ for the Oly A-200!!!)

All input, ideas, suggestions, hints, tips are appreciated to solve this.

(I do not want to pay additional 225$ for a 1.45 Tele, then I am beginning to be near the D60 pricepoint...)

Hi

But I hear all the time that the Tiffen lenses are not up to the Canon or Olympus lenses?

And then it is in the US while I am in Europe - VAT, TAX, Shipping etc.

dcpro has an european division. Basically you get what you pay for...tiffen is a nice comprimise for quality and price.

I'll agree that the Tiffen is a nice compromise for quality and price. Bought mine a week ago on sale locally for $69 (US). Here is an unsharpened example. (G2 set to -1 sharpness)

European price for Tiffen X2 at DCpro: 147$ plus shpping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone has samples of the Tiffen Megaplus and vignetting?

I.e. together with Lensmate adapter (I have allready)
Jens, if you use a standard step-down ring, you'll get some vignetting. I'm using the Tiffen adapter ($10 US) with only very, very slight vignetting in only a very few images. The shot of my dog in message above is uncropped. There is a special thin step-down ring which can be used with the Lensmate without vignetting. Here is a recent thread on the subject:

Jens,

why not the Canon x1.5 teleconvertor ? In Europe is this considerable cheaper then in the US, and is also of good quality.

Price a saw : 104 EUR (VAT incl) : at http://www.kamera-express.nl (or you find it in your local shop for about the same price);

Currently, there seems to be a delivery problem with the 58mm adapter (on the places I informed);

Seems to be that they dont have this in Europe - sigh.-..'

I like the idea of 2Xzoon, but now I might just take a look at the Canon Telelense.

An other option, is to try to find one of the last B-300 teleconverter's of Olympus (1.7x instead of Tiffen's 2.0x). I received mine last week from a local photo shop in The Netherlands. He was able to get one from the importer in Belgium. But this option is even more expensive than the Tiffen.

Good luck.
