Well folks, I havent seen any cameras from Kodak recently that do anything for me, but I have the new 5300 All In One printer..its really good, and cheap to run too, the results are great...highly recommended, my A4 prints are superb

Also I have the compact G600 photodock which is also very good, so it seems this is where Kodak are focusing their efforts.

i agreed, just grap 5500 from bestbuy this week for $149 dollars it's a great deal. Prints 100 images 4x6 great colors, it's excellent, i'm thinking about grabbing another one for my works. i don't think that i will ever spend my money on other printer brands.

I also agree that the Kodak AIO printers are excellent. I have the 5300 and recommended it to a friend who has an Epson now. He went out and nought the 5300 and is very pleased with it.

I plan to pass my 5300 on to my sister and get the latest AIO Kodak just announced when it is available,

Why?

Possible reasons. Black color, smaller size, elimination of separate 4x6 paper tray.

All of the other capabilities seem to be the same, including Facial Touch, Color Restoration, Perfect Touch, etc, available through All-In-One software. Kodak added Facial Touch and some other editing features to exisiting AIO's with recent AIO software upgrade. Also, current models are heavily discounted.

I also noticed that the ESP has a CIS scanner whereas the current models use a CCD scanner. Wikipedia leaves me to believe that power consumption is lowered but scan image quality "may" not be good.

I agree. I had 2 Epson printers and both of them were headaches. (clogging, etc)

I received a 5100 for a Christmas present (after begging for a new printer - my husband wanted to by me an Epson 2400 printed - nice thought but I didn't want to remortage my house to buy the ink and didn't want to deal with the clogging issue). I use this printer solely with my laptop. I was so impressed with it that I bought the 5500 model to replace my HP office jet that was used for all my scanning and faxing with my desktop computer. No more refills.....no more ink all over my hands!!!! Yeah!!! (I gave away the office jet and trashed the Epsons)

I now can afford to print again!!!
Oh, by the way the prints are really nice!!!

alot of peoples said that if you don't use the printer for couple weeks i mean like leave it there without printing anything the ink will drys, is it true? anyone had this problem before?

That has been true for my Epson printers. I have to run the nozzle clean process before getting a decent print after extended periods without printing.

I have not experienced that problem with the Kodak 5300. I've had mine since April without any clogging issues. I have gone multiple weeks without printing and have come back to print, and the first print has been flawless.

Environmental conditions like humidity will play a big part in this, but my Epsons are (were) much more susceptible to clogging in the same conditions.

JR,

You are right about some reasons, Black color, smaller size, elimination of separate 4x6 paper tray.

Mostly though my sister needs a better photo printer and will use the display and memory card slot where I prefer to print from the computer. So I figure I'll give her my current 5300 and get myself the newer one. I'll wait to see one in a store though before I decide.

I have to agree...my biggest irritation is that with previous printers, if yo leave them for a while, the prints are rubbish, as they seem to dry out...this does not seem to be a problem with the Kodaks, and the refills are very reasonably priced...full marks Kodak...go to the top of the class
