Please. A new Years Request for Everyone

Always looking at the negative.

What we can get today is light years ahead of what we could get a few years ago, at less than half the cost.

What does it matter? Any dslr is capable of terrific results. The rest is up to the person. If some people would take the effort they spend agonizing over specs and put it into composition practice, their photography would skyrocket in quality. And it wouldn't cost a cent.

to travel all over the world--and to have friends who live in Europe and South America--to keep me from being so American-centric.

I'm also thankful that I had the ability to purchase the Sony A700 DSLR camera this past October 2007. Prior to this purchase I used point & shoot Sony Cameras starting with the Sony Mavica camera. While those cameras got me to the digital age, getting the A700 was like doing 'real' photography where I am the element in control of the camera.

I'm thankful for this forum. I have been visiting this forum for over a year now--trying to figure out what DSLR camera to buy. I haven't contributed to many postings--only recently--because now I have a camera that I can relate to all the discussions. I can also start posting 'real' photographs and asking for suggestions on improving my photography.

Just that I am alive and living in a relatively peaceful part of the world.

We have a saying " Rather be a dog in the peace time, and not a person in a war zone"

Thanks and all best to everyone, especially those in war zones. I wish you well.

Lastly, it would make my day if this POSITIVE
thread ending up being the biggest of 2008 : )
Happy New Year!
Unfortunately, with the 150 post limit to any topic thread here, chances are there will many others that could possibly be the same size as the one if it goes the full monty!

Happy 2008, Everyone!

PS:

I am happy and thankful that I don't need to buy any new digital cameras this year . . .

As for lenses . . . that is a different story!

DOH!

Remember . . . always keep the box and everything that came in it!

I just hate messages where the whole text is thrown at me in one big
chunk without any space anywhere.
I'm afraid I have to agree . . .

Apparently typing class in highschool has been replaced with 'keyboarding', which seems to be more about gaming than typing words and paragraphs!

My New Year's request is that those who like to type in phenetics instead of the real written word take classes . . .

And save the phenetics for what they were intended for . . . text messaging on cell phones!

I'm also thankful for drunken forum members who write feel-good
threads when they need a cyber-hug because it gives me an opportunity
to take a break from telling forum morons where they can go, and get
all gushy about why I'm such a nice & happy guy.
..You should take a real long break.

You should have a drink, "un-uptighten" yourself, and find your sense of humor. (It was a joke, Tim. Lighten up.)

Another request . . .

I wish that when people post their equipment list in their profiles or signature lines that they don't tell us how many microfiber cloths they have, or packets of silica they have in the bottom of their camera bag, every single filter they own and have ever though about purchasing, number of quick release plates for their tripod, not to mention all of the cameras they've ever owned, currently own and plan on buying in the future!

And if they have the need to show us a photo of all of that stuff . . . at least make it a good photo!

OK . . . I'm done.

....No need to lighten up as I too was joking......sort of.

hm, let's do this the way the OP seems to want :

a - I'm so happy that I'm happy
b - I'm so happy I don't need anything
c - I'm so happy my wife is happy
d - I'm so happy that I don't need to dream up long lists of equipment I want
e - I'm so happy to know that action is better than hollow words
f - I'm so happy that I haven't reached the limits of my cameras yet
g - I'm so happy to be happy about being happy

oh, did anyone ever think of adding the level of their petrol tank to their list ?

I better have another sip of champagne and have some more caviar now.
