Minolta Dimage 7i availability date??

As Maj. Henderson points out, the USA release is "late spring." The camera is already available in Hong Kong, so Minolta is beginning to release production units. It's just a matter of time before their distribution network gets them to us here in the US. My best guess would be late May to mid June. Of course, since I've got some $ socked away to buy a D7i myself, it wouldn't bother me at all if they arrive earlier than that!

We're all waiting impatiently! :^)

No.

The camera is not OFFICIALLY available in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Minolta repeatedly says it will come in May with no dates to be confirmed.

There are a few cameras imported from Japan this week and as expected, all are sold.
F-100 is even more popular.

I found the D7i at the price of HK$6,600 in Mong Kok / Hong Kong, I have tried the cam for a while, but when I noticed that the cam was made in Malaysia, not in Japan, I decided to hold buying it. Anyone who had bought the D7i please annouce where their cams were made ?

I understand that Minolta has a large factory in southern Maylasia, I've seen comments about people from Singapore visting the factory.

I would expect that most of Minolta's production would come out of that factory. Labour would be cheaper than Japan. They probably only make the expensive higher margin 'pro' stuff in Japan. I would be suprised to find any D7is (other than possibly the first 'pre-production' batch) to be made in Japan.

If they build any in Japan at all, I would expect it will be only domestic production, every one else will get the Maylasian product.

thank you for your info.
