Please constructive critics (portrait)

Thanks..but i feel like i did something wrong ... maybe im mistaken. :)

Very nice photo...Good b/w contrast in the image...
I see only one problem and that can be corrected easily.....
There is a single strand of hair right through the middle of her left eye and

passing down her left cheek...Around the cheek maybe ok, across the eye, I would correct...

Thank you John. Though i dont like to edit images beyond levels curve..
That will become my routine check. :)

if i had to say anything other than nice shot of a beautiful woman.
it would be the reflection in her eyes bothers me.
the left mostly.

... get rid of the strand of hair in middle of forehead. Other than that it is a very nice photo.

Wrong or even right may not be a useful idea if learning is a goal.

A question: What were you trying to express in the portrait?

Then how powerfully was that intent successfully implemented in purely visual terms?

To state the obvious point, if you aren't clear on the intent, then it will be a struggle to evaluate.

In general, with most of her face covered, much of the expressive potential is lost to the scarf. I sense that she is smiling under the scarf, probably flattered, but then again I can't really tell.

I'm more of a proponent of contextual images, so revealing more of the story as to why her face is covered would be helpful. The are the barest of hints that it must be very cold as I suspect that she is not about to rob the local 7-11 ; ) (Sorry but that image of the robber with a covered face does pop into my head).

Theory: Portraits are more powerful expressions when they reveal or express something unique about that person. Eyes are expressive, but we want to see more of the face to "know" that person better.

Hope that rambling helps.

Cheers,

I have to agree that this hair in her left eye is distracting. The power of this photo is IMHO in the eyes of the girl, that are telling a lot to me. My eyes go to this tiny hair with a little drop just where it shouldn't be every time I look at the photo.

A wonderful portrait in any case, because it tells a lot without showing much.
