Hi you all,

As in the Netherlands there is some kind of 'public' sports event, well it all started during the last two Elfstedentochten ( a 200 km long skate on natural ice event in Friesland, during with the eleven cities of the province of Friesland are payed a visit and like a marathon the realy pros in a deadly fight for being the fastest, but some couple of thousands just for the honour to bring it all to a good end) small bands are playing music, to encourage the atletes as well as the public who is encouraging the atletes and yes this small band was there during the Rotterdam marathon.

And believe me the orange realy is like it was in real as orange is the color of the dutch,

But just a couple of hudreds of meters away there is the 'Kralingse Bos', an artificial wood, well in american and more mondial scale it's just a (large) park. So my wife and I decided to make a small walk through the 'woods' of our youth.

There are the greens, the shiney greens,

So both colorfull, but in a very different way, just seven frames are forming the transition between these two,

jacques.

jacques I enjoyed the photos but also your explanation of the occassion, this is educational of other countries traditions. The first photo, the short grey haired man is a distinguished looking person, thanks my friend. Chip

Hi Jacques,

What an antithesis, not only for the colors, but also the mood and the feelings and many more. I know that your country is going 'uit de bol' when there is a Elfstedentocht and I find it fun to see the massahysterie of a complete people (quit complete) and it's fun to follow such events but I must say that orange, and certainly that kind of bright orange hurts my eyes and the green is even more beautiful then normal after seeing the first picture, it make me really wild about the second that is a typical Jacques picture, I begin to recognise your style and way of viewing I think. An empty bench with some empty space, real great.

With kind regards,

Hello Jacques,

The orange is really ORANGE, but the green is fine, spring time composition. The table under the tree is very inviting. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, Jacques!

Having marched in a few parades myself, I enjoyed seeing the musicians. I much prefer the bright shirts to the uniforms we had to wear in high school band :) In addition to the bright colors, one thing I like about this shot is the obvious enjoyment shown by the saxophone player. Another is the reflections I can see in the brass instruments. I think if I listen carefully, I can hear the music.

Do you know what those reddish bags are for? Well, no matter -- they just caught my eye.

The second picture is so peaceful. I love those bright spring greens, and I like the way you composed the shot, with the field leading off into the mist on the right. The table under the shade of that tree is a lovely invitation, too. This looks like a fine place to sit for a while.

Thank you for sharing these photos, Jacques, and for sharing the story behind them, too.

With respect,

adrienne

Hello Jacques:

I liked the green of the wood of your youth. The small table that invites to a rest, and the way at top/right towards some unknown place.

With respects

Me gustó el verde del bosque de tu juventud. La pequeña mesa que invita al descanso y el camino a la derecha arriba hacia algún desconocido lugar.

Con mis respetos

Hi Chip,

I do like your observation of the grey haired person, as he realy was the cause I decided I would like to have a photograph of this scene,

your friend,

jacques.

Hi Floren,

I sincerly wish your tube isn't burned in by the vibrant orange. ;-)

Thanks for your comments about the totaly different ambiances of these so close after each other made photographs,

jacques.

Thanks GP,

I had been attracted to the nice sun light obn the major tree, but tried to give it some more value by including the vanishing part at the right upper side,

jacques.

Hi Dirk,

I did enjoy reading your thoughts.

And about my style, yes I know is based upon a small fundament, but I just try to work on it. The benches and shoes and some other stuff, well it might show up so ever now and then, but in a matter of fact, I just would like to be able to fill the frame the way I like, to fill it with shapes, colors lines and curves, with addition of the strenght of the different textures, well just me, always looking for the difficult path, not for easy satisfaction,

jacques.

And what are your thoughts about some kind of 'photographis cafee', situated somewhre in the border line of our two countries, not at a very high frequency, but just as some place to met, have a Palm and some interchanging of thoughts ?

Hi hugh,

Yes the orange is realy ORANGE and the green very green. I do hope I didn't upset you too much with the orange ;-) ?

I know I gave you relaxation with the greens,

jacques.

Hi adrienne,

The small reddish bags ? Well I think they just use these to put away their food, their drinks and so on. I just think it's nice they are dressing themself the same, makes it a real group, don't you agree ?

Well the fine greens, the first I could open my mind for an other view than the marathon scene and I like very much you enjyed it, for the colors as well for the composition,

You 'miss world of tulips',

with admiration of your fine views,

jacques.

Hi Martin,

Well as I wrote in the introduction is just kind of 'city park', but wel it was all we had and we loved to have it.

I feel it as a fine compliment, you like the way the photograph is build up, as I think you are a man with very fine feeling of shapes and lines, all combined with color and light,

jacques.

Hi Jacques,

Thanks, I replied on that photographers cafe in your other post (a second reply) and as I mentioned there I find that a great idea.

With kind regards,

Hi jacques,

Two very different worlds indeed. Not just in color, of course.

The top photograph not only has the very bright 'Dutch orange', it has the feeling of closeness, crowds continuing into the distance, noise, jostling, just a dense mass of energy and force.

Even though I understand the second one is but a (large) park and is no doubt surrounded by city, if feels like an oasis of 'Dutch green', calm, serenity, quiet, and restfulness to my eyes. Given any strength and free will whatsoever, there is little doubt which color I would choose to surround myself with. Little doubt that I would rather hear the melodies that are produced by chlorophyll rather than those that are produced by brass. The bench in the green looks inviting, the deep shadows under the darkest green leaves look even more inviting.

It will not surpise you that I very much prefer the second, more inviting, photograph.

You low land brother,

Ed

Thank you Rick,

For letting me know, you enjoyed looking at these photographs.

As I always do highly apreciate people take some time to write a (short) comment,

jacques.

Dear ED,

Well it would have been a very big surprise if your choise had been the first.

As I one easily can see as one take the time to look at your fine landscape photographies, you do find inspiration but I think also kind of peace for the soul, not only in photographing but also in abserving nature in all it's different apearances.

I myself I think I too felt kind of relief walking in the greens after watching the crowed and the runners,

your low land brother,

jacques.
