There are a lot of negative posts regarding Canon NJ factory service, expecially on the Canon pro forum. Many lament lengthy wait, imcompetent customer reps, worse condition after repair, and even scratches and dusts.

Frankly, these posts scared the heck out of me. Fortunately or may very well be normally, I had a very pleasant experience on my very first factory service.

Canon sent me email acknowledging arrival of my EF 24-70 2.8 L on Dec. 19, the lens was calibrated for focusing issue on 20, and shipped via Fedex overnite on the same day. If it weren't for the overloaded Fedex, I could've had the lens back yesterday, Dec 21 !! Isn't that superfast service or what?

I'm yet to do in-depth focus testing, but initial impression looks good.

Is Overnight shipping standard? Or was that your choice (and you paid for it)?

Just curious. Glad you had a positive experience and I hope your lens works to your expectation now.

They do me well too. I have had to send some items two times but all is well.

They return ship next day rather warranty or not.

It's best to call or fill out an online form. If you just box it up and ship it with a note a day or so is spent in line with others verifying the warranty status and possible calling or emailing you for payment on out of warranty repairs.
Add a copy of proof of purchase. Warranty cards not necessary.

If you send sample images only put about 5 of them on a CD or DVD. They will not wade through dozens of images. Note in the paper work "CD included with 5 sample images.
Take off your straps, batteries, CF cards. Strip her down. Clean it up too.

I always send mine in OE boxes inside another box. I get the OE box back every time.
