I was a victim of this and want to warn others who use ebay.
I paid $25 (no big deal) for an Sandisk Extreme lll 2GB

Counterfeit Front (The top metal corners of the silver are square)

Counterfeit back

Real front (all four metal corners are round like label)

Real Back

Real edge(Real Sandisk will have white color production batch/serial number 'BH07xxxxx MADE IN CHINA'
Real

Real

Counterfeit, in most cases will have no printing on the edge.

This link is my source and will give you more information on how to go about identifying and what to do if I have acquired a counterfeit card.

Sorry if this has been posted, but the more people that see it the better. I'm here everyday and I have not seen it until today.

I got one a whle back. Purported Exteme III for just a tad more than Extreme II price. Complained to the seller and told him i was going to report him to ebay for false advert. We dickered around, and he knocked the price down 50% ($40 for a 4GB a year ago - good deal). card speed is just average, and seems to work fine with no errors. Use it mostly as a spare when I need extra space.

I will ask for a full refund and possibly try and and the real thing from them, if I get any response from them at all. They are a pretty big ebayer lots of positive feedback.

I read a topic in the storage and media forum section a while ago and there was a link to a page that ebay warns that something like 95% of the cards sold over ebay are fakes.

Yet another reason (for me) not to buy stuff from feeBay.

I see your schwartz is as big as mine.

So, he not only saved that sale (do you really think he had even $20 in the fake card?), he also got off scot free... ready, willing, and ABLE to knowingly rip off the next guy.

Way to sell out your own integrity -- and for pennies, at that.

What else would you expect them to say, after getting caught red-handed?

This is spin control, and nothing more. They are responsible for the products they sell; no one else. The "we didn't know if was counterfeit" excuse is a transparent fiction. If they were getting them from legit sources, they would be genuine, period .
