When using the AE lock on the 950, I am experiencing a pronounced shift in the

color balance towards the red spectrum. The first exposure (taken to activate and lock the EA Lock) has a completely different color balance than the subsequent photos taken after the AE & whitae balance are locked. Anyone else have this occur? Anybody figured out a way around it?

Haven't checked mine, but I heard only the first photo is wrong, the rest should be okay.

I was having the same problem and I figured out that you have to manually set the white balance or use any of the other presets other than auto. Worked great for me. Hope it works for you.

I have not had this problem shooting panaroma sequences outdoors. I've done this at least 8 times with no colorshift problem. First shot looks identical to second.

Don,

I get the same results outdoors, no problems with colorshift. If you shoot indoors does it still come out perfect or do you get a colorshift. I would like to know if it is just a couple of us that have this problem or if it works only when you shoot outdoors.

Just ran some experiments indoors and I see the same colorship problem. First shot is fine, subsequent ones look reddish.

As I remember, this was a problem of early firmware revisions that have been fixed in v1.3. You can get this firmware from
http://www.nikontech-usa.com/950update.htm for NTSC version,
http://www.nikon-euro.com/nikoneuro2/download/Download_108d.htm for PAL version.

To check firmware revision, power on your camera while holding down MENU button. If it says anything else than 1.3, upgrade !

Cheers,
