I have been searching and searching and searching for the UR-E6 since January 2002.

Obviously I haven´t found it (I wouldn´t be writing this message if I would have). Nikon Support has basically been mocking me (and probably many of you) by replying (after my fourth angry e-mail)
"While the demand for the UR-E6 has exceeded the available shipments,
we've sold several thousand of these rings to date. To assure delivery,
we would suggest you place an order with one of our authorized
dealers."

Very funny comment from them. The idea that they sold "thousands of these rings today" is in my opinion a big white (or not so white) lie.

For a company that I have given a lot of money in the past (the cp5000 was the 16th coolpix I bought for me or friends and family) this is shameful.

This is not funny at all because my style of photography and my "signature" became over the years fisheye or semi-fisheye photos. I have really been deprived of many invaluable shots for four months now because I was supid enough to trust Nikon.

And, worse of it, there seems to be no end in sight for this drought and the lies Nikon has been telling its customers.

(I have orders pending for some time at several dealers in the US and even in Germany, where I go sometimes to work. No luck until now and nobody has good words on Nikon about them handling this self-afflicted situation).

My questions to the forum are two:

1) anybody interested in co-signing an angry letter to the President and CEO of Nikon USA?
2) where can I get a UR-E6 ???
:-)

thanks for any ideas.
(and thanks for the patience of reading this rant)

Yes, I would like to join with you. Nikon not even respond my e-mail about the UR-E6.

If you want, you can get it on eBay. Some people are selling it over there.

Also, keep calling J&R, they said they will have it at the end of this month.

I have been searching and searching and searching for the UR-E6
since January 2002.
I ordered the ur-e6 from bhphoto about 2 weeks ago and it was put on backorder. It came last week! I got the ur-e5 from J&R last week too. Someone posted that it was in stock there and sure enough it was delivered to my house 2 days later!

I guess you can say I got lucky.

2) where can I get a UR-E6 ???

I got mine from B&H yesterday. Keep trying them, they will get more in soon I am sure. I did not pre-order by the way. They have an option to notify you when an item comes into their stock. I used that feature and ordered it as soon as I got that e-mail from them. They were out of stock by that afternoon. I did not have to wait for more than a week for them to get into stock the first time. Good luck in your search.

Wellcome to the forum Tomas:

To me in these case the choice is clear, don’t bother to buy it, instead buy the "Coolfix Fixed Adapter UR-E56" it is $45 and it replaces both UR-E6 and the UR-E5 adapters.

I wish we had another option with the MB-E5000.

Best regards

hi

thanks for the suggestion.

yes, i´ve seen them and am considering them although they are so much more expensive than the nikons.
also, i normally try to go with the originals.

and, another also: this doesn´t change tha fact than nikon is mistreating and lying to all of us.

tomas
Have you looked at the "CoolFix" alternative? Those who have swear
by it. Due to it's variable positioning it can eliminate vignetting
on certain lenses and allow full zoom on the tele's.

http://members.rogers.com/nextphoto/order.htm

congratulations.
you really got lucky.

i tried to backorder from B&H too, but on the website you can´t order items that are not in stock. since i had backordered it at four other places (!), both on the internet and locally, i didn´t pursue it the more complicated way (calling) at B&H, which I now understand I should have.

you ARE lucky, i wish i was in your shoes and envy you!

and, it still doesn´t answer the question why nikon is behaving and lying the way it is.

hi carlos

thanks for the advice.

i´ll have to go that route probably, although i will continue to hate nikon (and write the CEO a VERY angry letter, not that he would care, but sometimes they are embarrassed enough to reply) for this!

Tomas:

I haven with Nikon person all my life, and once with Canon due to the lack of D1 available for me, well that did not last long 150 pictures after the damn thing die on me with the shutter stock in the open position, I came back to the store and I was able to get a D1 that they were holding a Client that did not show up.

From my experience in this forum I can tell you that Nikon's machines are better that others, Nikon needs to polish their relation and market strategy, why release a camera with no accessories available, why show at the PMM accessories and things that are vapor ware so far and the most important thing, they need to let people know that they are supporting us.

Right now I'm willing to bet that Nikon will not address any of the issues we discuss on this or any other forums.

Ps why don’t we start another new message with a petition to be heard, there is as lot of people in this forums and combine they are Nikodians Buying power

hi carlos
Ps why don’t we start another new message with a petition to be
heard, there is as lot of people in this forums and combine they
are Nikodians Buying power
exactly that was my idea. as mentioned i am a nikon user (because they are "mostly" / "basically" but NOT this time) the best deal in quality and "ok" pricing.

i have had my first nikon asa kid, an SLR and have bought 16 coolpix cameras going back to the coolpix 600.

that´s why i felt and feel SO betrayed by the fact that they not only LIE to us, but also basically add insult to injury by saying "we sold thousands of these" (which i interpret basically as: "if you were too stupid to get one of those thats your problem").

so, thats why i was going the petition route (asking it in my original post) and i have already had three people contact me that they would sign, so you´d be number four and hopefully we get a hundred or so.

we just need to be mad at them enough, so that they (maybe, just maybe) get embarrassed.

so, lets go for it.

(and seek the elusive UR-E6 on the side. the prices of those few selling on ebay are going into the stratosphere...).

tomas

Hi:

Try EBAY --------- there are currently 3 on sale - 4-27 3:20pm central time

I know it's not an answer to Nikon's apparent lethargy in the USA, but the adaptors are freely available here in the UK - I got mine within 24 hours.

It would probably be worth importing as the postage cost would not be very high. Just do a Google search for Coolpix 5000 uk and you'll find several stockists.
Andrew

I am sorry for some of you guys having so called "Nikon accessories availability problem" but so far we don't have it here in Singapore.

I (if I may say we) always found what we want (except MB-E5000 of course). I'm also impressed by the service from NSC (Nikon Service Centre).

I brought my CP5K down last Tuesday in the afternoon, stated that my camera have 4 stuck pixels, freezes under extremely hot weather (sun) and dusty and noisy lens.

I called them up on Wednesday morning, told them that I have to make a trip and need my camera on my weekend. Thursday morning they called me up and ask me to come to collect.

Now my camera has zero dead/stuck pixels and a brand new lens. Haven't do any torture test, though.

But, I am happy.

Now, where is this MB-E5000?

prices are (and have been) outrageous on ebay. for an item that sells at $ 12.95 when its sold thru stores people are paying triple the price.
and just because nikon is lying to us.
but, again, thanks for the tip

hello bimo

i´m happy for you and impressed by nikon.
at least it works somewhere .
so you say they have enough UR-E6 adapters for sale?
how much is the price in singapore?
what is a good online retailer based in singapore which has it?
why not ship it around the world?

(btw, i loved singapore when i was there some years ago. (except for the no-chewing-gum laws, :-) )

thanks, be well

Hello Tomas,

I bought that time together with teleconverters, it was S$18 for the adapter alone.
what is a good online retailer based in singapore which has it?

Sorry, we don't have it here - not that I know. We have to shop direct from the conventional retailers. If I not wrong there was a message here in this forum saying that some retailers willing to do that.

Go to http://www.nikon.co.uk/buy.asp for a list of online dealers in the UK. Not all ship overseas but some certainly will.
Best of luck!
