I was disappointed not to be convinced that the S602 from Fuji would be the next camera I would buy..........but after looking back to last year when I opted to buy the 6900z in preference to the Sony505v i made the right decision.

Likewise now that I have committed myself to buying the 707v and not the S602, once again i believe I have made the right decision.

Along with a 128meg card and of course the PCMCIA to memory stick adaptor for my digital wallet I probably only need the propriety flash.

My only regret is that my NP-FM70 won't fit the camera...........what about my NP-FM30 ?

Eric, you wont be disapointed, I bought mine about 3 wks. ago, and purchased it at circuit city, yeah, I know I could have bought it a little cheaper, but you always take a chance when you buy from a company you dont recognize, you get what you pay for. I also bought the extended warranty for 4 years, ouch that was a couple hundred more, but if anything, aside from theft, happens to my camera, they will replace it or fix it, no strings attached. You will not be disapointed with this camera, it really is awsome. My first camera was a fuji, second was a mavica,(really liked the mavica), and now the 707, I got greedy and wanted more, and stuck with sony, I really love my camera, I have taken a ton of pics, and not disapointed yet, havent quite figured out all the manual photography yet, but having fun learning, the automatic pics are turning out oh so good. Have a lot of fun with your new 707!!!!!!!!!

Eric, I myself owned the 6900 for quite a while and recently took the plunge into the 707 world. The 602 looks to be a great camera but not much of an upgrade from the great 6900. I just have one piece of advice make sure you buy it somewhere where you can return without a re-stocking fee because ALOT of them have problems with darkness on the leftside and vignetting. I luckilly bought mine at sears so I should be able to swap mine with another one. Besides that its definatelly the best 5MP prosumer camera on the market, the picture quality is unmatched!

Rebecca, Which Mavica did you have? I had the FD91 and still have it. We are getting ready to go to Disney World with our 8 year old Granddaughter, Mariah. I will take my Mavica FD91, too.

I too bought my DA at Circuit City. I looked at & help one at Comp USA. Then went to Circuit City & our Salesman there was a young fellow, Cory). He knew more about the 707 than the Comp USA fellow even thought about knowing. I too paid too much & bought the 4 year contract. Or should I say my husband did the 1st part of December for my Christmas present.

I have already taken over 4,000 pictures- just because I can! I'm having more fun with the 707 than the law allows! Isn't it fun. Maybe out of the 4,000 a couple of handfuls are just the shots I was trying to get. The rest are great memories to be burnt to a CD & saved forever. I Love It! 8-D

I'm looking forward to many years of fun and eventually, if I the Good people keep writing their ideas and everyone has input on what each other said... Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to use all the features. I'm trying. :))) Shayron

I had an FD91 also. Just sold it on eBay, and it paid for my 707! It was my first camera, and I loved the zoom!

Jared: I wouldn't sell mine, at least at the moment. I've got a sister & my friend that have begged me to sell it to them. It's my back-up camera.
Can I ask you a question: What did you get for yours? Just curious as to their worth now. My husband paid about $1,000 for it new from Comp USA. He figured he was getting a good deal when he bought me the 707. He said he thought cameras of this caliber to be more now because they are more sophicated & more bells & whistles.
But then the FD91 was the neatest camera we'd seen. 8-D

I didn't want to sell mine at all. But I really wanted the 707. We have a baby coming next month, so I certainly couldn't afford to have both cameras. Against my will, I had to let go of the FD91. Here's the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1345385694

The auction turned out better than I expected. I was a little worried about the bidders with no feedback (since I've been stiffed by one before). I was expecting about $650 or so.

Most FD91 auctions are going around $350-$450 for just the camera. But you never know what will happen when people get into a bidding frenzy.

Before I boxed up the FD91, I just had to compare it with the 707 (even though I promised myself I wouldn't do that). The zoom is untouchable by any other digicam. BUT... low light has always been a problem for the FD91, and the 707 is much more suited to taking pictures indoors (which I'll do alot with the baby).

You got a great price! I've taken great care of mine. Still need it! lol

When's the baby due? Do you know what it is? Is it (I hate calling a baby it) your first. Boy, I wish I'd had either of my Sony's when my 2 were growing up. My son is a chef & 30 - my daughter 33- an Interior Decorator. My daughter has the love of my life. Mariah. Try to make the days longer as you watch the baby grow. Time doesn't go slow enough when they're young! :-D

Thanks Kirk................ my wife works at Harvey Norman in Australia...........very large national electric retailer and she is a stickler for extended warranties so we will pay $75.00au ($37.50us) for the extra three years on top of the 1 year which I think is probably a good move considering what digital cameras are like.

We might pay a lower cost on the warranty but the camera is no cheaper than if I bought it in and payed freight, duties,GST etc.

Our baby will be here on the 9th or 10th of May. We know what it is, but we're not telling anyone (and that's NOT easy). Even our daughter (7) doesn't know.

It took many attempts to convince my Wife we "needed" the 707, and the baby is the best reason of all. I'll be posting plenty of baby pictures in the near future. I can't wait! All I need now is the HVL-F1000 flash.
