Went to purchase a couple of Lightform P22's only to be told by a dealer that Bogen no longer sells Ligthform (Lightform isn't being manufactured anymore). Checked Bogen's web site and no mention of Lightform.

Anyone know if Lightform is still being manufactured and if so manufactured/distributed by who?

Thanks,
Phred

PhotoFlex makes a similar product. I love the quality of everything I've ever tried made by them.

B&H Photo carries their line and their panels seems to be relatively inexpensive.

Also, for what it is worth, think about buying the fabrics and making your own frames out of PVC - easy and simple and can save some money (this from a guy who usually buys the best I can find, go figure).

I just bought Lightforms in February through Bogen - there is a link to lightform with reference to the P22 right on the first page of their site (I just checked).

Wait through the little flash intro at the top of the main page until it starts showing product logos. Lighform will be in the lower left. Click it.

Though building of PVC is possible and less expensive, I can have the lightforms open and ready to go in less than a minute and its only four pieces - two feet, the frame and a fabric.

I find it very convenient.

If you plan on using it outdoors, look into the vented fabric and the hooks for anchoring it in the ground.

Micheal

Yeah, but they don't support Alien Bees or most White lightning stuff. DA*nation! I really wanted those egg crates that go with their soft boxes!

Anybody know of a source of egg crates that will fit the soft boxes from Alien Bees? "Light Gear USA" is the manufacturer of the one I got from them.

Doh! You're right,, when checking I clicked on Products and didn't see Lightform.. Now I notice, in addition to the front page link you pointed out, Lightform is mentioned in a catch-all product group at the bottom of the products page.. Oh, well,, last time I listen to the dealer who told me Lightform was out of business..

Vented panel fabric was something I was looking for and didn't see (but then again, maybe I missed it.. ) in the Photoflex stuff.

Thanks for the info.

Iuse the Calumet panels, PVC, hinged and collapse and open up in seconds to just the pipes, 42"x78",sturdy and portable. They have sales, in Dec. itwas $100+ off the 3 panel kit. While you are there check my Photo Interview in the Photo Cafe' section under Commercial. (no I do not work for them).

You may also want to look at Chimera's line of panels. Chimera, which makes the best soft boxes around, also makes great panels that are made of aluminum, not plastic, which has a habit of breaking. These, like Lightform, were also designed by Dean Collins. Go to http://www.chimeralighting.com for more info. Click on Products and then Panels.
