...regarding the Chair, you said of your Husband, he was a Keeper, or words to that effect...

My Comment:

Dear Lydia:

Maybe he's a keeper because you're a keeper yourself, good people find good people, like finding like...life can be funny that way.

Best Wishes, Traveller

I agree, it was extremely hard to pick, I did have a tough time there. And some really really wonderful entries in there :-)

Kudos to all !!

...with some care and loving attention by moi....

They all look good, but because of the detail in Pit Stop...I had to compress that puppy more than I would have liked.

But as I say, they look good.

If you have a complaint...address them to me.

It's done and they are fixed.

Hey all,

I am really sorry about my image being oversized. I am a noob here, as you can see, and I assumed 132K-140K in Photoshop save as, should be enough. But I guess I was wrong.

Also, something that I didn't do and I think I should do more often going forward is, follow the discussion thread closely here.

Maybe it would have been more helpful to see a Comment on the photo on pbase, that way, newbies like me who are not used to following discussion here on dpreview can address the resizing issue faster. I still apologize for the oversized images, I will correct them as soon as I get home tonight.

Traveller thank you very much for resizing my the Pit Stop image, do you remember what size was it previously at? I guess you probably won't remember, but any idea what size in PS is ok? Is 100K a good enough buffer? I can keep this in mind going forward.

Naj, sorry about NOT seeing your post earlier :(, I will resize my other images as soon as I get home.

Thanks and sorry for the trouble,
Yuvraj

I find that if you use CS2 and 'save as' the file size reported by PSCS2 of approximately 124 Kb gives a PBASE file size reported as closer to 150KB 'ish.... but several factors affect this... (the detail in the picture including the level of sharpness etc).

Also, it is recommended that you size your pic'. so that the longest side is 800 pixels or less. ...... and ...

Depending upon the picture 'aspect ratio' (4 X 3 or whatever...) and the resolution chosen ( 240 pix/inch ... as Canon often defaults to... or 360 for printing... or 72 for viewing on screen...) I find that sizing your pic'. to max 800 pix and res' 240 ppi and using 'save as' (which maintains EXIF info').... this allows you to produce a file size that you can squeeze down to roughly 124K ( 150K ish.. PBase) and use MINIMAL compression.

By doing this I have found that you get a cleaner image at the small size required and minimise compression artifacts.

This is just my contribution based upon stacks of tests using 'trial and error' ... nothing 'scientific' ;-)

This is a constant source of frustration for PS users and maybe one day Adobe might get around to addressing the issue.

In the meantime there are lots of helpful challengers like TRaveller who are only too happy to step into the breach and get things sorted.

So this is just my $0.02 worth (... cos the Aussie dollar has improved recently... lol)

Regards Bob

Thanks Bob for the detailed writeup. I had done everything as you mentioned except for the file size part, will make sure to keep it below 120-125K from now on.

Hey Lydia, I thought this challenge was meant to end yesterday! Is there a winner. Everyone's still chatting about it but I have not heard anything yet.

Jules, lost as usual.
