Very nice gallery, Wim! Question: For the macros of the flower and bug in the third gallery, were you using any filters or close-up lenses?

Ordinary Items become interesting, and an enjoyable way to spend a few moments between phone calls, customers, and reports...

Nice composition in your work. Show us some more!

Thanks everyone for the good comments so far, let them come! ....or if you have a question, you may always ask them.

Hi Leezah,

First I'd like to thank you for the things you said. As for your question:

I didn't use anything but my Canon G2. No lenses or filters used. I must tell you it wasn't simple. Best thing to do is using the "manual" setting, so you can adjust diafragma and exposure time yourself.

Many greetings,
Wim

Nice work Wim. Before I checked out where you were, I knew it had to be somewhere in Europe because of the soft colours.

i'm really only good at contructive comments so i'll give that (if DC were here you would get a mouthful, but luckily he's not), anyway:

r003100031.html - the mushroom is cute. i would remove a portion of the background and some of the side because it's a bit distracting. because that branch shoots off to the right, i'd keep it in, leaving about 10% of the background. and to keep it symetrical, i'd keep about 15% on the left side of the shroom. about 25% above, keeping the rock there.

lightgame.html - i'd keep it just that way.

lake.html - i'd clip about 25% of the leftside right off. the picture has no real focal point, and the sky isn't all that blue (maybe a pol?). i'd use the stuff in the water and the tree as a center. otherwise to me, it looks more like a shot to advance the film (and there isn't any)...

silhouet.html - i dunno, it doesn't look right to me. but i can't think of anything different to do. so i'll leave it...

neverending.html - i'm really not one with black and white. i perfer color myself. green grass on the side, with white puffy clouds on a blue background.

airwalker.html - needs a beam of light and a bottom of a UFO. that's a weird illusion, how is that guy off the ground?

horse.html - pretty stocky horse... i'd give it a little more contrast or a pol to remove some of the mist. too bad there's no way to remove the house wall in the background. i can't think of a good crop.

secretpool.html - this one is pretty intresting actually. i'd expect to see a fairy or a deer in there.

Thanks for the comments! I'm sure to try some of the things you mentioned. (won't post the modified ones, but it's great to have your feedback) Who's DC ? Does he post much, I'll try the search functions.

Yes, I now know... the mushroom is too much into the center of the photo. Actually it was the first macrophoto ever taken by me... (some months ago)
lightgame.html - i'd keep it just that way.
Yeah , I know, it's difficult to change it in any way.... pretty difficult to shoot too.

100% right, this photo was taken exactly going against every basic rule...on purpose though.
(- Try not to focus your object right in the middle
  • It's best to have a front-frame...
-etc.)
silhouet.html - i dunno, it doesn't look right to me. but i can't
think of anything different to do. so i'll leave it...
Yep, this picture is strange, but everyone I showed the picture on a print out loved it very much... don't know why either, ... I guess I'm looking at it too technical. Anyway, there's something about this picture.
neverending.html - i'm really not one with black and white. i

Hehe, yup, it's funny huh?! I got lucky and took the photo at the right moment when the guy passed by. Actually the shadow exists, but is out of the picture... Yes, let's call Mulder.
horse.html - pretty stocky horse... i'd give it a little more
contrast or a pol to remove some of the mist. too bad there's no

What's a pol in english?
secretpool.html - this one is pretty intresting actually. i'd

Pretty creepy place over there!

Thanks Mike for the constructive comments... I guess you only had a look on the first page, gallery 1, I find the other galleries, 1 & 3 better. If you didn't saw them yet, I'd love your comments on them, you're good at it too!

Take care,
Wim.
