D40X 18-55 & 55-200VR for $750

Can this deal be found better else where? I really wanted the 70-300VR lens but the D40X kit with 18-55 70-300VR is $250 more. I do not think the extra is worth it. What say you guys, whill I find a better deal then the link above for $750?

I'm pretty sure amazon is selling this set for less right now. there was a thread on this recently. Amazon has a deal for $100 off lens when purchased with a DSLR.

It won't be long before Nikon has a D40x kit with the 18-55VR and 55-200VR.

Nikon was selling kits at Costco with the 18-55 and 55-200 (non-VR) until they cleared out their non-VR inventory. Now you find the kit with the 55-200VR.

So the same will happen with the 18-55 in kits.

Just bought one at Amazon last night and paid $588 for
Nikon D40 kit with 18-55MM
55-200MM VR Lens
1 LowePro Bag
1 LowePro Strap
1 Tiffen 52mm

They already shipped me the D40 kit and lens and bag. I then went in my account and canceled the Tiffen 52mm since it is not mulit-coated anyway and the strap. I ended up paying $560.00 shipped for this setup. Not a bad deal.

Not a bad deal at all. That is a D40 not a D40X thou. I need the extra pixes because I want to blow up some of my images to poster size.

I hope you like all of your stuff thou. Not too bad of a way to drop $600.

I've had 24 x 36 images done with my 6.1 MP D50.... don't neccessarily need the extra MP.... Uprezz at 300 dpi or send a good quality file to some of the better printers that will up rez for you...

You won't gain any real advantage with the x model. In some circumstances, especially high iso, low light the D40 will outperform the X model. Like the other poster said if you want 10 mp, uprez the D40 file. I do have both and this is where my opinion comes from.

Where in amazon is being advertize such price...

Amazon is not even selling the stuff themselves, it is all links to cameta camera or beach camera...

So far no body has been able to come up with a link that shows where you can get such items at such prices directly from amazon...

there is no proof...

funny though, you'll see that 55-200 VR lens now is $223.94 and it was 198.00 just 2 days ago.

They better not be screwing with me as you can see my order was confirmed and I pasted it above. The D40 is still the same price; $479.

Read the page and it will provide a link to "qualifying dslrs" on the right. You click on the camera you want and go to check out. It should apply the $100. discount at the end,(if it's still offered). Otherwise it's $679 but with the new price of the VR lens, it might be around 600 after all is said and done

Do a search -- links were provided in threads as recently as yesterday.

I didn't purchase one, but I did verify the prices. Unless they stopped the promotion today, you should still be able to find the low prices -- it sounds like some have. Discounts are taken at checkout.

Okay,

Little by little things are clearning out one step at a time...

I manged to add all items from Amazon.com and I see the $100 discount, but
they are adding an extra $20 some how some where that I am not too sure about...

Here are the pictures:

If you add all the itmes it should come up to: $740

Then at check out they have $780.... what is going on...

Even if you had not checked the budget free shipping, there would not be that much for shipping.

They basically raised the price of the VR lense by about $25. Also the discount is from Nikon and that runs til the end of the year. According to some threads on Fatwallet.com, Amazon changes the price on a regular basis, you may see it go down to $198.41 at a later date. Maybe after the weekend?

I ordered today, 2day shipping, should be here by Friday!

$475 for Kit, $99 for VR lens...

The bag strap and filter was free, but they did charged $10 for the bag...
I also ordered an huey to so it will look good on the screen...
