Can someone who might be interested in the new version of Canon's RAW converter please get it from the link given in the following message:

and see if you can get batch mode conversion to work? I keep getting an "Insufficient memory" warning under OS 9.2.2, and this with 100MB allocated to the application and 700MB installed memory. Thanks. --PR

(PS In the new version of ImageBrowser, there is a tantalizing mention of OS X in the Help page, but no sign of any actual software...)

Prabhakar, I got the same memory setup as you have and after trying to use this program for the first time last night, got the same memory message. I'm stumped- and have no other ideas. I'll try to use the photoshop plug in and see what happens.

Danny,

In addition to removing the previous 1.2 version extensions (the 2.0 installer does it for you), there is another little gotcha, it appears...Try looking for extensions in the firewire area with SLR in the names. I removed these and the converter now works properly on both a Titanium AND a G4 867 both under Classic AND 9.2.2 I think that these may have gotten installed with 1D driver stuff when it first came out.

Hope this helps.
Best,
Phil

I just got my Canon IXUS 330 and it came with a new ImageBrowser 2.3.2 for OS X. It's a good thing because Apple's ImageCapture does not support the IXUS 330 only 300. It's not bad but I still like the flexibility of ImageCapture ability to do automatic tasks when downloading the images.

Thanks Phil, I didn't see any extentions with slr in the names. What about the older version- what extentions would I be looking for to remove? Thanks for your help.

I never got the insufficient memory error, but I am having a problem with the Canon software on my Mac.

When I try to use the Raw Image Converter (v.2), I get a message that says, 'Error saving file,' and it doesn't save the file. And the error message tells me NOTHING, so I'm clueless as to what the problem is.

When I attempt to save a file using the PS Plugin (v. 4.3), I get an error stating that 'an unsupported file format is included in the save file', and it doesn't save the file. This is also ambiguous and makes no sense!

I was finally able to convert a raw file that I had copied to my hard drive from my card reader using the Image Browser.

I'm not too impressed with Canon's software thus far.

Hi Danny,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...
These are the files I found in the System folder...
FWDslr
FWDslrFamily
FWDslrExpert
FWDslrScan
FWDslrSettingLib

that were creating the problem...

One other piece was that I ended up actually removing the DCLib folder (this is where all the Canon libs live), the Converter and then reinstalling. Appears I had (still) one DCLib file in place that was preventing the converter from running properly.

Can you select multiple files to process but it just stops at the end of the first one? or what?
Best,
Phil

LNK,

The error you're getting may be because you were trying to EXTRACT a JPG file from a D30 or other camera. This feature appears to ONLY be supported under a D60. You can convert to JPG, TIF, or TIFF and this should work normally. Do not attempt to exract...
the embedded file just isn't supported.,
Best,
Phil

Thanks again Phil for your advise. I couldn't find any of those files so they were probably never installed. I did installl the plug in and was able to convert a RAW file in photoshop. Later I went back to the canon program, jacked up the memory allocation to 200 mb and it worked! Guess 100 mb wasn't enough. But in these pograms, I couldn't find anyway to change the exposure- only the sharpness option was listed. Isn't there more than can be controlled and changed on RAW files? Or is this just an option with windows software.

ALso tried to use graphic converter as you mentioned in another post but had no luck wiht that. Now, to get a good workflow set up and things will looking up. Any more suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am seeing same error message every time lately. I have a D60, with the crw copied to my PowerBook harddrive. And it wouldn't let me convert a thing, not TIFF-16, TIFF-8, not even extracting the jpg works. The weird thing is that it used to work much better when I just upgraded (to 2.0.0.9).

I have rebuilt the desktop (OS 9), increase the memory partition. I am running 9.2.2 on a firewire G3 PowerBook with 256M of physical memory and VM turned on to 257.

This is driving me nuts. I am going to go back to the old version that came with my D60 and see if that gets any better.
