Proud dad

Hi proud dad. It's a nice picture, however it doesn't come up when you click on the link. That may be why you have no responses. You have to click previous shot in your albumn to get to the photo.

Sybil
Well, I took this picture a while ago, but still haven't been able
to take another as perfect! Just wish I have my E-10 back then.

Any suggestions to improve the resolution?

Enjoy!

Hi Jon
As a parent of two myself, I know that we tend to like all photos of our kids.

The child is certainly cute.

There are a variety of catchlights in her eyes, which may bother some people but don't bother me too much.

What does bother me a little about the composition is the man's nose 'growing out of her head' if you see what I mean. Obviously the child is resting on a man's shoulder, but I wonder if you couldn't use your image editing software to either remove the man from the shot or mask him out somewhat, perhaps with use of Gaussian Blur.

Just my opinion - I'm sure you love the photo regardless!

Thanks for sharing.

Best regards

Paul

That's a good idea and I have used the blur on other shots. I do find it a little difficult blurring the background and keeping the fine curls of the hair in focus.

Here is a picture that I used the g. blur.

Thanks, Jon

Try using the lasso or pen tool to select around the child, not too close to the edge of her outline. Then apply a slight 'feathering' so that you don't get too noticeable a transition from the sharp foreground to the blurred background.

It takes a lot of practice, but you'll get there in the end.

Take care

Paul
