Weekly Wildlife Thread dec 2 2007

Well, just had my driveway plowed and my van would not start, had to
buy a new battery. The good news is I built a bunch of bird feeders
and starting to see many birds in my front lawn. A bunch of pesky
squirrels also. The deer in my neck of the woods are still skittish
from the deer hunt which is thankfully over now. My daughter has 17
wild turkeys and some deer in her backyard so I will have to get up
there an get some snaps.
You have some priceless photos of deer. Fantastic. Snow makes it
pretty but I don't want any more.
Gerry
sorry to bring it to you but there will be more snow..a lot more. it's going to be a snowy winter, at least here. Glad that I like snow so much :)

I guess it's going to be a long winter this year.

Yesterday I was walking in 2 feet of snow... that fell mostly in one shot and in a short period of time. The meteo people on TV said it was a record of snow fall for this time of the year..last year at the same time we were walking in mud up till about first week of january. I was taking the deers without even a coat. last week it was -23 with wind chill factor..-13 real temp.

years follow but are far from alike.

I knew you were Hot but I think, a little bit crazy too :-)

(prediction ---longest and coldest winter in 20 years, same here too)

Yeah, it was freezing cold. The two first days it was between 5 and 10 degrees below 0, but the last couple of days it was around 0, so it was a bit better;-) In the end it was all worth it. I went home with more then 2500 pics of eagles, and many of them of high quality dispite the bad light. I used ISO 800-3200 all the time.

Take a look at my gallery http://foto.no/cgi-bin/bruker/minside.cgi?brukerid=22431

We have Golden Eagles here in sunny California, but they don't have that much Gold color in the crown. The beaks are also a slightly different shape. At least that is what I've noticed in the ones that I've seen in the hills near where I live.

I like the pic with the snow blasting by the eagle and nearly covering up the game. Extreme conditions. Thanks for the show

Not much but we had this little visitor the other day. Nothing more than a very small, young black snake.

"Shot" it with my 40D and 100mm f/2.8 macro lens.

Thanks.

I haven't changed my post processing flow, but I did upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS3, since the new Adobe Camera Raw that suports the 1D Mark III only works with CS3. I don't do much post processing.

Nice series as usual Garrett. I have noticed your images have a lot
more contrast (film like) since you started using the new camera.
Have you changed your post processing flow?.

Thanks,
