Is a remote release cable available for S5?

Yes, it's called a Nikon MC 30 about 2 ft long and there is a extension Nikon MC 21 around 10 ft long

Also,

I just purchased a Wireless remote for $27.99 plus $12.00 shipping from e-bay. I've used this unit and it works like a charm. There are no directions for it but you Plug the cord into the 10 pin socket on the S5. There are no guide slots so you need to pay attention when plugging it in to the camera. Hold down the button for maybe two seconds and the light starts blinking to let you know it's on and the little hand held devise has a button on it and you press the button half way to focus the camera and then the rest of the way to trip the shutter. It is well worth $27.99 plus shipping from Hong Kong.

Here's what it says about the wireless remote.

Pro Wireless Remote for Fujifilm S5,Nikon D200, D2X D100 MC-30 + Free Carrying Bag

With the wireless remote control, you can trigger the camera’s shutter release from a long distance from 10m-30m.

Hope this helps,
Dave

Want to try the cable first because that way I can still be behind and beside the camera to better observe expressions and maybe later try the wireless. So I did check out ebay and bid on a used one.
Thanks again

Anne,

You can use the wireless and still be behind the camera to better observe the expressions. You don't even have to touch the camera just press the wireless button and the image is made.

Anne,

there are two parts, one is the transmitter you hold that in your hand and the other part plugs into the 10 pin recepticle on the S5 and just hangs there.. Now all you have to do is point the camera at the subject and press the button on the transmitter (that's in your hand) to take the shot.

Sounds like something I could use. I think I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks, Dave for the info.
